Update On The Police DPO Who Raped A Woman In Lagos

Following the intervention of several human rights bodies, actions have been taken against the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Onikan Station, Mr. Adekunle Awe.
He has been arrested over the alleged rapé. The Lagos State Government and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, are said to be very interested in the case and want to see that justice is done. “The DPO has been detained at the Special Investigation Bureau at the command headquarters.

Two other inspectors, who were on duty when the alleged offence took place have also been arrested.
The state government frowns at rape and if you recall, a new law on rape was passed not too long ago so we shall be leaving no stone unturned. 

“The complainant and the accused persons as well as very senior officers of the command all had a meeting in the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration and I can tell you authoritatively that no stone will be left unturned.”  
A top police source who is aware of the developments disclosed this to Punch in Lagos.

Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, also confirmed the arrest of the senior police office. She said, “As you know, allegation of rape is a very grievous one and we have commenced investigation into the matter.
The DPO has been relieved of his post and is in custody so as not to interfere with investigations.

“I want to assure the public that the command is not taking it lightly and will make sure that we get to the root of the matter.”
The 31-year-old woman, Idowu Akinwunmi, had accused Awe of ra'ping her in his office on April 15, 2014. The victim had said she was forced into having séx with the DPO after he had threatened to kill her and throw her and the other suspects in prison.

Dear Compatriots,

I greet you all, especially our Christian brothers and sisters who are celebrating Easter and commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ today.
As we join Christians in other countries of the world in celebrating Easter this year, I urge all Nigerians to reflect on the significance of its lessons of piety, obedience to higher authorities, self sacrifice for the good of others, redemption, salvation, deliverance, renewal and the ultimate triumph of good over evil.

  These lessons of Easter and other injunctions on brotherly love, peaceful co-existence, tolerance, honesty, humility, justice, equity and fairness to all without discrimination contained in the Gospels are of particular importance to us as a nation as we continue to contend with the challenges of nation-building and development. As our Christian compatriots celebrate the Messiah’s   triumph over death and all that it connotes, let us all renew our faith and confidence in our ability as a people to overcome all obstacles, challenges and threats to national progress and well-being, including terrorism and other criminal attacks on our people in some parts of the country.

My belief in our ability to overcome all retrogressive and divisive forces in our midst and build a strong, united and prosperous nation by turning our unique diversity into a source of strength remains unshaken and we will continue to work with all interest groups and stakeholders in the country to achieve the peaceful, secure and politically stable conditions essential for rapid socio-economic development.

President Jonathan Did Not Invite APC Governors To Security Meeting

Goodluck Jonathan and his PDP government did not invite APC governors to security meeting for reasons best known to them,but I think the best way to tackle the present security problems in this country is by bringing everybody together irrespective of the party they belong to rather than discrimination. It appears some people believe they have more stake in Nigeria than others.It is sad.The fact that most of the states affected by boko haram insurgence are APC controlled states does not mean that the governors are behind it.

Clitoral Orgasms :This is the most easily accessible orgasm for women. Elisabeth Lloyd, professor of biology at Indiana University at Bloomington, found during research for her book The Case of the Female Orgasm that only 24 percent of women can achieve orgasm without direct clitoral stimulation. Hands, tongues or friction concentrated around the clitoris can lead to the big O even before intercourse, notes Vanessa Marin, a San Francisco-based sex therapist. How to reach it: If a clitoral orgasm with your partner is elusive, taking the time to explore the area solo can help you get to know what moves rock your world, suggests Annette Gates, a sexologist based in New York City.
During intercourse, try being on top, which allows your clitoris to grind against his pubic bone, recommends Marin. In that position, youre also controlling the pace of the movements, which can help you find the perfect rhythm, she says.

Clearly, the women who regularly add this act to their repertoire are fans, but that doesnt mean somethings wrong with your body or brain if anal sex is not your cup of tea.
Sex should never be about feeling like youre missing out or have to try something, reminds Sandoval.
How to reach it: Anal experimentation is best explored slowly, either with a partners finger or a small toyand lube is a must. Experimenting after youve already climaxed can make you feel more relaxed and open to sensations, says Gates. And since women can feel especially vulnerable exploring this area, talking about it before the act can make everything go much more smoothly, suggests Sandoval. Predicting and planning for awkward moments and knowing theyre just a part of sex can make the entire experience far more relaxed. And when youre relaxed, youre far more likely to be orgasmic, says Sandoval. As far as actual positions, try spooning side-by-side and have your partner enter you from behindthat way, you have control of the angle and depth of penetration.

Vaginal Orgasm Climaxing from intercourse alone has a lot to do with anatomy, notes Sandoval. Some women may find their clitoris indirectly stimulated by penetration based on how close it is to their vaginal opening, she explains. And for that lucky group, thats all they need to reach an orgasm. How to reach it: A vaginal orgasm takes time, so be sure to pack in plenty of foreplay, concentrating on long, slow strokes when he finally penetrates, suggests Marin.
Try doggie style, since this position allows the penis to penetrate deeply into the vagina, suggests Gates.

1. Hands
Always exposed to the elements, your hands probably give away your age more than any other body part. Experts say sun damage is the biggest culprit. As a result, you should apply sunscreen to the backs of your hands, in addition to a good hand cream at least once a day. According to one expert, it’s important to keep your hands well moisturized with thick creams — particularly overnight. And the sooner you establish a daily regimen the better. Even though hands usually start looking older in one’s 20s, most people don’t recognize the signs of aging until their 30s or 40s, and most people won’t start changing their routines until they notice the appearance of serious aging signs.

2. Face
Freckles may look adorable when you’re a kid but dark spots on your face as you grow older are just, well, unattractive. But there is good news. There are ways to lighten your dark spots and brighten your skin tone. According to some experts, the easiest thing you can do to treat all types of hyper-pigmentation is to add a brightening serum to your regimen. In addition, try eating a diet that’s good for your skin. When it comes to wrinkles, it may actually work to your disadvantage to be thin, oddly enough. Indeed one study from 2009 found that losing as little as 10 pounds can age a woman by four years.

3. Eyelids
As you grow older, your eyelids will stretch and the muscles supporting them will grow weaker. Unfortunately, this can lead to a surplus of fat above and below your eyelids, creating unflattering bags under your eyes. “My eyelids are melting and soon will hang in front of my eyes like little curtains,” said one of our Facebook friends. Short of surgery, there are a few things you can do to help with this issue, including drinking more water, getting more sleep and consuming less salt. There also are a few creams on the market that many believe reduce puffiness.

4. Neck
Nora Ephron wasn’t the only one worried about a turkey neck. “The truly astonishing thing is how a body part can age 10 years almost overnight. My hands did. My neck seems to have collapsed in the space of a single year,” said one post-50 friend. Indeed your neck often looks older before anything else because its skin is thinner than that on your face. Preventative measures such as the use of the same products you put on your face are a good idea — so long as you do it before your neck has dramatically changed appearance. Makeup artist Bobbi Brown has offered some tips on hiding a turkey neck, such as wearing a nice scarf or a pretty blush that will draw attention away from your neck.

5. Elbows
Unfortunately, there’s not a lot that can be done about the loose skin developing on your elbows. You can try using a moisturizer or cream — or wearing long-sleeved shirts. Take comfort in the fact that you are not alone — most people suffer from dry skin on their elbows as they age. To blame are the sun, stress, smoking, not enough liquids and the loss of sweat and oil glands.

6. Hair
Not only does your hair become thinner and grayer with age, but it also becomes more dry and brittle. Experts say you can add moisture to your hair by using certain oils. You can also give your strands some TLC by scrapping harsh chemicals and trying protein-rich hair treatments instead.

Ondo Police Claim Arrest Of 14 Suspects

The Ondo State police have claimed the arrest of fourteen suspected armed robbers and kidnappers. A police statement alleged that the suspects had been terrorizing residents of the state capital, Akure, as well as surrounding towns.

The suspects, who were reportedly arrested after a tip-off from members of the public, were paraded at the police commands headquarters on Igbatoro Road in Akure. In recent months, residents of the state had seen a spike in armed robbery attacks.

The Ondo State Police Commissioner, Isaac Eke, revealed that the arrested suspects were part of a larger gang that had carried out incessant attacks all over the state. Mr. Eke said his command had received numerous complaints and distress calls from victims of armed robbery attacks.

A statement released by the commissioner disclosed that two men on a motorcycle robbed a couple, Rotimi and Iyaniwura Adedayo, at gun point and stole one Nokia handset, one wristwatch, a bunch of keys and some money. Mr. Adedayo was shot on his left leg as he struggled with the robbers.

Diddy leads the pack with an estimated fortune of $700 million, an increase of $120 million over his net worth last year.
The change comes largely from the addition of Revolt TV—the new, music-focused, multi-platform channel of which he’s the majority owner—to his already-hefty portfolio. Diddy has plenty of competition in the race to $1 billion. His top challengers are Dr. Dre, who ranks second with $550 million, and Jay Z, in third place with an estimated $520 million. The former leapfrogged the latter on this year’s Forbes Five thanks to a large stake in Beats By Dr. Dre, which he cofounded with Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine in 2008.

Our sources say ... cops were called to an apartment building in North Hollywood at around 1:00 AM and found Christ Bearer -- aka Andre Johnson -- on the sidewalk critically injured. Christ Bearer is a member of the rap group Northstar ... a group discovered by members of Wu-Tang Clan. Two members of a group Bearer collaborates with live in the same apartment building and tell TMZ they were there early this morning when Christ Bearer suddenly -- without warning -- cut off his penis and jumped off the balcony. They say they were not on "any hard drugs that would cause him to do such a thing." The two men say they rushed downstairs and Christ Bearer had already jumped up and began screaming incoherently.

Nyanya Blast: Nigerians In Uk Urged Government To Seek Foreign Assistance

Nigerians in the UK have urged government to seek assistance from the international community to address the nations security challenges. They made the call on Friday in the wake of the Nyanya bomb blast, near Abuja which left more than 70 people dead and several others injured. Speaking with a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria in London, some Nigerians in Diaspora said the Boko Haram insurgency required help from abroad in order to tackle it.        

MTN Disowns Text Message On Nyanya Blast Update

Telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria, has disowned a text message credited to it and sent to mobile phone users.

The message, purportedly sent from MTN, promised to supply subscribers hourly updates on the bomb blast at the Nyanya Motor Park in Abuja, which has left no fewer than 89 people dead and 121 others injured.

Oveem is an online shopping and delivery platform for fresh fruits and vegetables, designed to meet the high demands of the Nigerian consuming society and minimize the traffic gridlocks experienced by regular shoppers who go to physical/local shops to do their daily/weekly fruits and veggies shopping.

The site is supposed to make you feel like you are at a great farmers market, except online. The website shows eight categories of fruits and vegetables, as well as salads and smoothies and promises to deliver within 24 hours.

Oveem currently delivers to these areas in Lagos: Apapa, Ikeja, Ikoyi, Isolo, Victoria Island, Lagos Island, Lekki, Surulere and Yaba. In addition to the online grocery store, the company also provides choice recipes of healthy meals. Oveem will not be the first attempt at delivering fruits and vegetables in Nigeria.

A site called MHQ launched in 2012 to sell fundamental household items as well as pepper, onions and rodo. Despite the number of physical stores available in Nigeria, Oveem founders, Josiah Uma and Mike Okunonke, believe the service has a unique appeal, that is, the fact that it is an online store, that offers customers the flexibility and comfort of shopping on the go, and then delivers all shopped items in the best hygienic condition.
    

Battery Offers 30 Seconds Charging

A battery that can charge in under 30 seconds has been shown off at a technology conference in Tel Aviv. Israeli start-up StoreDot displayed the device - made of biological structures - at Microsoft's Think Next Conference.

A Samsung S4 smartphone went from a dead battery to full power in 26 seconds in the demonstration.
The battery is currently only a prototype and the firm predicts it will take three years to become a commercially viable product.
In the demonstration, a battery pack the size of a cigarette packet was attached to a smartphone. "We think we can integrate a battery into a smartphone within a year and have a commercially ready device in three years," founder Dr Dorn Myersdorf told the BBC.

The bio-organic battery utilises tiny self-assembling nano-crystals that were first identified in research being done into Alzheimer's disease at Tel Aviv University 10 years ago.

The nano-dots are described by StoreDot as "stable, robust spheres" that are 2.1 nanometers in diameter and made up of peptide molecules.
The technology has a range of uses, founder Dr Myersdorf said. "Batteries are just one of the industries we can disrupt with this new material. It is new physics, new chemistry, a new approach to devices," he said.
The team has also used the nano-crystals in memory chips which could write three times faster than traditional flash memory and as a non-toxic alternative to cadmium in screens.

Dr Myersdorf said that the batteries are likely to be 30 to 40% more expensive to manufacture compared to traditional ones and the final product will be twice as expensive than those on the market today. But making them should be a relatively easy process. "It is about letting nature take its course.
We just need a facility that can do chemical processing," he said.

Now Google has extended that functionality to your Android phone by releasing Chrome Remote Desktop for Android.

Then you can download the Android app from the Play Store(phone or tablet) and you’re good to go.

PDP Blames APC For Abuja Explosion

The Peoples Democratic Party has condemned as barbaric, monstrous and extremely wicked, the bomb attack which claimed the lives of innocent Nigerians in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja on Monday.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Monday said the party was shocked and has remained grief- stricken since it received the news of the gruesome attack and killing of Nigerians pursuing their legitimate endeavours. “The PDP weeps. We are indeed grief-stricken.

Our hearts go out to the bereaved, especially those who have been orphaned and widowed and those now deprived of their bread winners by this evil act.
We share in their pain, their anguish and their loss and pray that those behind their grief must not escape justice,” the party said.
Stating that the attacks cannot be justified under any guise, the PDP maintained that they are politically motivated and can be traced to the utterances and comments of desperate persons who seek to undermine and discredit the present administration and make the nation ungovernable for President Goodluck Jonathan by instituting a reign of terror against the people.

“We stand by our earlier statements that these attacks on our people are politically motivated by unpatriotic persons, especially those in the APC, who have been making utterances and comments, promoting violence and blood-letting as a means of achieving political control. “Nigerians are also aware of utterances by certain APC governors which have been aimed at undermining our security forces and emboldening insurgents against the people. “Those who have been promoting violence through their utterances can now see the monster they have created.

They can now see the end product of their comments; a country flowing daily with the blood of the innocent. “The question is; how do they feel when they see the mangled and blood-soaked bodies of their victims?
How do they feel when they hear the voices of the dying and the injured? “Of course they feel nothing.
Their hearts have been hardened and they are embittered by the fact that they have been rejected by the people.
They are bitter because the people have chosen to rally round the government they love and voted for; but must they chose the path of violence and bloodletting as a response to the wishes and aspiration of the people?” the statement queried.
Urging all well meaning Nigerians to stand up and join President Goodluck Jonathan in his untiring efforts to check terrorism in the country, the PDP cautioned those fueling the attacks to retrace their steps, rid themselves of bitterness and desperation and seek forgiveness from God.
The party, in solidarity with the people also shelved all official engagements while praying God to grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss.

APC Governors Visits Victims Of Mondays Bomb Blast

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors Forum Wednesday paid a sympathy visit to victims of Mondays bomb blast at the Nyanya Municipal Motor Park in Abuja who are currently receiving treatment in hospitals in the Federal Capital Territory, describing the devastation caused by the blast as a killing too many.

Led by Chairman of the Forum and Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the members, which included Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, Senator Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Tanko Almakura of Nassarawa and Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto states, condoled with families of those who lost their lives in the incident which they described as unfortunate.

Briefing newsmen after the visit, which took them to the National Clinical Research and Training Centre, Asokoro, and National Hospital, Abuja, the Forum Chairman expressed sadness that such calamity should befall the nation at this time adding that no nation could survive under such atmosphere of insecurity.

This State Has Failed Us

It`s about time we admitted it: Nigeria has become a failed state. For the past 10 years, the signs of collapse have been visible but the picture has been progressively clearer since 2011. About a third of the country`s land mass has been under emergency rule for the past one year for reasons that are glaring also in at least another third of the country including the Federal Capital Territory: mass murders, kidnapping for ransom, daylight armed robberies, breakdown of law and order, and unrestrained stealing of public funds. Several authorities identify a failed state as one that can no longer perform its basic duties in such areas as security, power, eradication of poverty, education and job creation. Even the Nigerian constitution recognises that the reason for government`s existence is protection of life and property as well as maintenance of law and order. Events of the past few years indicate that Nigeria has since exceeded the minimum requirements for classification as a failed state. Currently, the nation is still in grief following the massacre of over 100 people and injuring of more than 200 others by a bomb planted by terrorists in an overcrowded motor park in the nation`s capital city on Monday. On the night of the same Monday, Boko Haram, which has been working together with international terrorist groups al-Shabab and al-Qaeda, seized about 100 female students from a school in Chibok, near the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, after shooting dead a soldier and a policeman guarding them. Meanwhile, scores of young women abducted in the state since February are yet to be found. A few weeks ago, all schools in Borno State were closed; the latest kidnap victims had been recalled to take their senior secondary exams.        

Funsho Williams Was strangled To Death By His Killers

The Chief Forensic Pathologist of Lagos State, Professor Oladapo Obafunwa yesterday told a Lagos High Court in Igbosere that late politician, Funsho Williams was strangled to death by his killers. Professor Obafunwa said this while testifying at the on going trial of six men accused of killing the form Lagos governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on July 27, 2006. The defendants who were arraigned before the court on a two counts charge of conspiracy and murder are, Bulama Kolo, Musa Maina, David Cassidy, Tunani Sonani, Mustapha Kayode and Okponwasa Imariabie. According to the witness, Williams died from lack of air intake, due to manual strangulation. Professor Obafunwa also told the trial judge, Justice Adeniyi Adebajo of that he visited the scene of the crime on July 27, 2006 at Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi at 5.30pm after he received a call informing him of the death. He further said that he waited for policemen to arrive before he later saw the corpse at 10.00pm. I saw the body of a middle aged man, identified by the family, having his hands tied and lying face down in a pool of blood on a dagger, wrapped with a newspaper. I covered the hands and taped it with a paper to prevent a foreign DNA which may occur during the movement of the body so as not to affect forensic investigations. I noticed that the room was scattered along with two other rooms which I checked before the body was moved to Creek Military Hospital and I left the hospital at midnight. During the post-mortem examination, myself and two other pathologists at Creek Hospital discovered a cut on the deceaseds forehead and bruises around his neck, he said. Obafunwa also testified that there were deep bruises on the arms and legs of the deceased which suggested that he tried to restrain somebody from inflicting those bruises on him before his death. According to him, an X-ray was also carried out on the deceased which revealed a fracture of the thyroid cartilage (neck bone). He further stated, Based on our findings, the deceaseds death resulted from asphyxia or lack of air intake, due to manual strangulation, while the wounds found on the deceased can be described as defence wounds. Blood and urine samples, eye fluids, stomach contents, nail scrapings and clippings were also taken by the police for further forensic analysis, after which I made a report, he said. Justice Adeniyi Adebajo further adjourned the trial to May 7, for continuation of trial. The defendants, according to the charge, on or about July 27, 2006, at 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, conspired to murder one Engr. Funso Williams. The offence contravened Sections 316 and 324 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2003. No Mass Burial For Abuja Explosion Victims-Minister

The corpses would be released to their owners without any delay after proper identification.
The FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, on Tuesday said there would be no mass burial for victims of Monday’s explosion in Nyanya, Abuja.
Mr. Mohammed said that the corpses of the victims would be released to their families. He made this known while speaking to journalists shortly after visiting some victims of the blast at Asokoro District Hospital in Abuja.
He said the corpses would be released to their owners without any delay after proper identification. “We will give them befitting burial they deserved.
There will be no mass burial but we will do everything possible so that they will be identified by their relations’’, he said.
Mr. Mohammed added that the six-month-old baby, who survived the blast, and receiving treatment at the Asokoro hospital, would be re-united with her mother, who is also receiving treatment at Wuse District Hospital.
He said the Abuja administration would foot the medical bills of all those injured in the explosion and directed the FCT Secretary of Health, Ademola Onakomaiya, to refer serious cases to specialist hospitals. He condemned the attack and described it as wicked and heartless.
The police confirmed the death of 71 people and 124 injured in the blast.
Mr. Onakomaiya, however, told the minister that one victim died on Tuesday morning at the Wuse District Hospital, bringing the number of the dead to 72. (NAN)

10-Month Old Baby Miraculously Survived Nyanya Bomb Blast

A 10-month old baby who has been identified as Goodness miraculously survived the deadly Nyanya bomb blast which killed over 100 and injured about 124. The baby whose name is Goodness is said to be the daughter of a petty trader who trades at the motor park.

She was found among dead bodies while rescue team were trying to separate the bodies. The only injury she has is a swollen right eye, while her mother died during the incident.

A 19 year old Pakistani student named Iftikihar Muhammed Arslan, (pictured above) has been arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) for possession and attempted smuggling of 25.400kg of heroin said to be worth N228m into Nigeria, Vanguard reports

Arslan was apprehended at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport during inward screening on passengers on board a Qatar Airways flight. 25 parcels containing the hard drugs were discovered in his luggage.

Shocked over the bomb blast that rocked the Nyanya Motor Park, Abuja, in the early hours of yesterday, Monday, April 13, United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon called on the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration to urgently for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

Over 70 people have reportedly been killed in the bombing as at the time of filing this report, which took place as commuters were about to board buses and taxis to go to work in the capital. Over 100 people are said to be injured in the attack.

Influx Of Used Tyres Worries Son

The Director General of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Joseph Odumodu, has expressed deep concern over the influx of used tyres into the country. Odumodu, who blamed this trend on the porous Nigerian borders, said these tyres are not only bad but are responsible for most auto crashes in the country. The DG expressed this at a one-day training on tyres organised in collaboration with the tyre marketing and servicing giant in Nigeria, Infinity Tyres Limited for staff of SON and other stakeholders in Abuja.        

NDLEA Siezed Drugs Valued At 240 million In The First quarter 2014

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized illicit drugs valued at N240 million at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, in the first quarter of the year. In a statement in Lagos yesterday, Head of Public Affairs of NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the drugs, weighing 95.93kg, were seized between January and March. A report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted the NDLEA as saying a total of 19 suspected drug traffickers were arrested during the period. "The total weight of drugs seized during the period under review is 95.93kg. The suspects include 16 males and three females," it said. The statement said the NDLEA Commander at the Lagos Airport, Hamza Umar, gave details of the arrest and seizures. "Within the first quarter of 2014, the airport command seized 9.06kg of cocaine, 16.7kg of heroin, 27.24kg of cannabis and 3.4kg of methamphetamine.

Coscharis Motors To Build An auto assembly Plant

Bennett Oghifo Coscharis Motors, renowned distributor of a wide range of automobiles has started preliminary works to build an auto assembly plant in Lekki, Lagos. The auto assembly plant, which will be part of its existing showroom and workshop complex at Awoyaya would be a CKD plant. "The idea of a CKD plan was conceived in Coscharis about three years ago but couldn`t be realised for reasons beyond our control. With the introduction of the New Automotive Policy, it has become imperative to revisit it," said the Group Managing Director, Coscharis Motors, Mr. Josiah Samuel. The GMD, who led a tour of the plant site, said it would be spread on 14 hectares of land, stating that it would be a dream come true once it was realised.
