President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda wins fifth term

 Uganda's election commission has declared incumbent President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in office since his rebel group seized power in 1986, the winner of the country's 2016 elections. He won with 60.7% of the votes while his closest competitor, opposition leader Kizza Besigye, had 35.3%, the commission said. The country had a voter turnout of 63%.

A two-year search for a 15-year-old Togolese girl, Assana, has led to the arrest of seven human traffickers by the Zone F Headquarters of the Nigeria Immigrations Services in Ibadan.

One of the arrested persons is a man simply known as Cossy, the brother of the girl who has since been found and reunited with her family in Togo.

He explained that the girl was brought to Nigeria from Togo by her brother when she was 13 years old in 2013 without any travelling documents and was made to work for various end users, who paid various sums of money that never got to the victim.

Tragedy in Ghana as At least 73 people were killed after a bus collided with a truck.(PHOTOS)

A bus hit a cargo truck north of Ghana's second city Kumasi overnight, killing at least 73 people on Wednesday evening.

The head-on crash, which left 13 people seriously injured, occurred 420km north of the capital Accra when a Metro Mass Transit coach bound for the northern town of Tamale from the city of Kumasi hit a truck loaded with boxes of tomatoes, regional police chief Maxwell Atingane said.

"Many of the passengers on the bus died on the spot,"Atingane said.

 A murder suspect, Kunle Oshineye, aka Eyin Bouncing,has been arrested  for alleged involvement in the killing of two men in Akoka, Bariga.

Oshineye, an executive member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the Jibowu area, was said to have been arrested at a party last Friday.

A police source told PUNCH Metro that the suspect, who allegedly belonged to the Eiye Confraternity, was among those who killed Daniel and Abiye, who were slain on January 22, 2016.

A woman, known as Mrs. Bose Adebayo,  has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for assaulting her grandchild, Tope Oke, over a bowl of rice.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that the accused person stamped the victim, with a hot pot on her cheeks, because she ate the rice without her permission, thereby inflicting injury on her.
