Obasanjo Urges Buhari to send Jonathan to prison(photo)

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo is urging president Muhammad Buhari to send his immediate predecessor ex-president Goodluck Jonathan to prison bothering on corruption charges, Sahara reporters has revealed.According to the presidency source, Mr Obasanjo
during a meeting with the new president urged him act boldly and courageously on corruption and be open to sending Jonathan to prison on account of his involvement in corrupt activities.

Mr Obasanjo promised to assist the new president in two areas in which he will use in nailing the ex-president.These areas are fraudulent selling of Nigeria's crude oil and arms import scams. It will be recalled that Jonathan and Buhari met secretly on Thursday with corruption at the centre of their discussion.Presidency source said the meeting ended amicably with both men chatting and laughing.

Orji Uzor Kalu can become the first FIFA president- Fashanu

There are calls by some people for former Abia state governor Chief Orji Uzor Kanu to vie for FIFA presidency.

Ex-Nigerian international Peterside Idah while speaking on cable TV sports channel, Supersports last week opined that the sports loving Governor is the right candidate for the job.

"Kalu's candidacy will receive massive support on African continent, the middle East and other parts of the world.Nigeria as a nation should present him as a candidate.Kalu is passionate about the round leather game. He has promoted the game and we saw what he did with Nigeria's Enyimba as governor". Idah said.

In the same vein, former English striker-John Fashanu has also called for Orji Kalu to join the race for the presidency of FIFA.

While speaking on Channels sports on Tuesday August 11, 2015 Fashanu stated that Kalu is qualified for the top job, since Issa Hayatou is comfortable with CAF presidency.Another African deserve to take the initiative to become the first ever black president of FIFA.

Ex-president Jonathan's aide returns N1.5b to the federal government

A close security aide of former president Jonathan who was recently interrogated by security agents, has refunded the sum of N1.5b he allegedly acquired illegally while in office.

According to new telegraph, the report which did not disclosed the name of the aide said that anti-corruption crusade of Buhari has started yielding results with the recovery of billions of naira from some officials who served in Jonathan's administration.

Quoting a source, the report said" the security agency had recovered N1.5b from an aide of former president Jonathan.After series of investigation the money was traced to his account, which he could not explain the source as a public servant.

"The aide is not alone as some others has voluntarily returned to the federal government to avoid prosecution". a source in the presidential villa said.

Man stabbed girlfriend to death after 3 rounds of sex in Calabar(photo)

A 30-year-old man, Richard Effiok, on Monday confessed to stabbing his girlfriend after three rounds of sex.
Effiok, who identified his deceased girlfriend as Bassey Udoh (23), said the incident happened on May 22, 2015, at Nelson Mandela Street in Calabar, Cross River State.
According to Punch, the suspect made the confessional statement at the headquarters of the state police command on Diamond Hill Road, when he was paraded along with other suspected criminals by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Henry Fadairo.
Effiok, who hails from the Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state, said, 
 “The problem started when I had three rounds of sex with the lady and gave her N1,000 as transport fare back home, but she demanded N5,000.Bassey is my lover.
We have been dating for two years. On the day of her death, we had three rounds of sex. I can’t really say if I was tempted by the devil to kill her.When she refused to collect the N1,000 that I gave her, we started quarrelling and it led to a fight. I brought out a sharp kitchen knife and stabbed her.After stabbing her, she screamed and neighbours broke into my room. They saw her on the ground in a pool of blood. She later died,” he said.
According to him, it was his neighbours that called the policemen that arrested him.
“I regret my actions, I wish I did not kill her,” he said.

Muhammadu Buhari cancels govt delegation to Hajj, to save $1m

 President Mohammadu Buhari has announced that there would be no federal government delegation for this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia.This is in a move to cut costs.He however stated that the government shall play its traditional roles of providing consular, medical and security services to Nigerian pilgrims.

Vanguard reports that, with the decision, the government is expected to save about $1 million and N30m in local expenses.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu who stated this on Monday quoted the president as saying that the decision was not targeted at any individual or group.
He also stated that States were at liberty to sponsor their pilgrims, if they so desired.
“The states can deal with that (meaning appointment of own delegations) but this year at the Center, we will not be involved” Shehu said.

14 people killed in Ebonyi road accident (graphic photos)

The Federal Road Safety Commission on sunday confirmed the death of 14 passengers in a road accident that occurred at Amasiri secondary school along Afikpo-Okigwe road in Ebony I state.

The Afikpo unit of Federal Road Safety Commission, mr Roland Ogbuke said the accident involved a truck and a 14 sweater bus. He said the bus was conveying members of Assemblies of God church who were returning from Isu in Ohaozara local government for a funeral event.

We received a distress call on Saturday and immediately mobilize my rescue officers to the scene of the incident.

"We are not sure of the cause of the accident but a witness told us that the vehicle was trying to dodge a heap of sand on the road and ended up hitting the oncoming vehicle.

"The impact of the hit threw the bus to a tree some metres away from the road and squeezed it into a zero shape that mingled bodies of the occupants.

"We had to mobilize a nearby quarry company which used it's heavy duty machine to cut the tree and the bus in order to evacuate the mingled bodies of the passengers", he said.

"The police assisted members of FRSC in moving the bodies to Mater Misericordia hospital Afikpo", he said.

Truck killed four persons in Ondo

Four persons were killed on Sunday evening by a timber truck at Ondo road in Akure.The driver of the bus known as Friday Ambrose allegedly lost control of the truck thereby hitting the victims,who were on motorbike along St Llous primary school located along On do road.The victims whose names were unknown died at the spot as the truck dismembered their bodies beyond recognition.But the driver came out alive.

Unbelievable! Man kills 3 over bitterleaf plant in Edo

Tragedy  struck, Sunday, at Ibillo, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, when a man popularly known as Alhaji, murdered three persons including a three year old boy, after a quarrel over the ownership of a bitter leaf plant in the compound.

The sad incident occurred at Ogo quarters Ibillo Sundayevening. The three killed includes a man identified as Mr Aliu Ademo, a girl called Favour and a little boy Isaac, who later died yesterday morning at the hospital.

Vanguard learnt that trouble started when the Alhaji had a heated quarrel with the daughter of a Co-tenant called Favour over the bitter leaf plant in the compound. It was said that Alhaji went to harvest the vegetable without the consent of the owner which angered the daughter of the woman, Favour.

According to an eyewitness,
 “Alhaji who is from Igbira came out with a cutlass and beheaded the girl. Mr Aliu saw what happened and started shouting, Alhaji ran after Isaac the little boy to kill him but Aliu pursued him in order to save the boy. But he succeeded in killing both the small boy and Mr Aliu.
“He decided to kill the man because the man came to save the little boy. The small boy was rushed to the hospital because he was still unconscious but we later heard he died this morning (Monday). Alhaji is on the run now but the police is looking for him”.

Reacting to the murder, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Stephen Onwechei, said 
“ the suspect is currently on the run but we are on his trail. He will be arrested. He abandoned his cutlass and took off after the killings. When people came around to stop him he killed them including a three year old child.
“That is barbaric. I understand he previously had quarrel with the mother of the child over the ownership of the bitter leaf in the compound. That is madness but we must arrest him no matter how far he tries to run. He must face justice for his wicked act” he declared.

Lagos woman abandons her for 3 months in a day-care(photo)

A woman identified as Soloja Ayobola has abandoned her baby at a day care center in Ikorodu for over three months.

According to Vanguard ,on the 18th of January, she brought her daughter 7 month old daughter Mofeoluwanifemi Amos, to God’s Care Nanny center .After filling the form , she promised to return with her passport to complete the registration process. But she never did.
