“I know the National anthem. It’s Just That I was tired” – TBoss

TBoss had an Interview with the Pulse Nigeria Team, and she spoke about her controversial National Anthem moment in the Big Brother Naija House.

She also spoke about her outburst after she felt Debie-Rise had put her on the spot by asking her to recite the anthem.

On her outburst

“Like she [Debie-Rise] has said, that house isn’t a normal house. At a point, you could go [crazy]. And this was the one person I could confide in, I drew energy from her own energy.”“I was upset, I’m not going to lie. Because, I had history with being told off like, ‘what makes you think you’re good enough for this because you’re not Naija. Can you speak pidgin?”“And I bet you – you heard me speaking pidgin in the house? At my auditions, I couldn’t speak pidgin.

Nigerian players lie about their ages – Super Eagles coach, Rohr

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has admitted he is not comfortable with the age factor of players based in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Rohr revealed that it is the reason he hardly invites them to the national team.
“There is an existing problem with Nigeria based players. We cannot tell their real age,” he said in an interview with Brila FM.
Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was the only home-based player invited by Rohr, for the recent games against Algeria and Senegal.
The former Gabon and Burkina Faso coach, has however stated that the door is not closed on the best players in the NPFL.
“The door is always open for the best players. The Nigeria League players must prove themselves with the CHAN team first, because at the moment we have a winning team, so the home based players must prove they deserve a place in the team.”

For the fourth time in 2017, acting on a tip-off from a whistle blower, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has intercepted money in various currencies, at a Bureau de Change, at the popular Balogun market, on Lagos Island.
The monies were allegedly being moved, preparatory to being converted to Naira.

EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren,  said “the total haul is about N250 million, at the prevailing exchange rate at the parallel market.

Russia 2018: It’s World Cup ticket or I quit – Rohr

Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr says he will not stay a day longer in Nigeria if he fails to secure the Russia 2018 World Cup ticket.
Rohr while speaking on Monday Night Football, a programme on Supersports noted that the key to his stay in Nigeria revolves on ensuring Nigeria’s qualification for the World Cup.
“If Nigeria fails to qualify for the World Cup, I will take a walk. It is a challenge and I accept it. Our real focus is to qualify the Super Eagles for the Russia 2018 World Cup and that must be fulfilled.
“The technical crew have been wonderful, the players are eager to represent their country and have assured that getting the World Cup ticket is a task that has to be accomplished.
“Because of the commitment of the players, some of the players even paid their ticket to represent their country. That is the kind of focus and confidence the players have and it is heartwarming.”
While playing down on the issue of the NFF not meeting its obligation in terms of his salary, Rohr stated that delay in paying salaries is not peculiar to Nigeria.
“I have worked in other countries in Africa and I know that they also have such problems. I have confidence in the NFF that they would put things right but that is not the most important issue. Getting to the World Cup remains the focus. As far as I am concerned all other problems are secondary.
“My assistants need to be in the right frame of minds to give me their best and I am glad the NFF has also taken care of their dues.”

IGP denies plot to kill Wike

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Idris Ibrahim, yesterday, debunked allegations by Rivers State Governor, Nyeson Wike, that he directed the state’s Commissioner of Police to kill him.
Wike had, in an interview with a newspaper, alleged that the IGP mandated the commissioner of police in charge of Rivers state to cage him and kill him.
The IGP, who made the clarification in a statement, in Abuja, said “there was no time, either recently or in the past, that the Inspector-General of Police gave an order or assignment to the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State or any police officer, anywhere, in the country to kill His Excellency, Mr. Nyesom Wike, or direct the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, to cage the governor as alleged.”
The statement signed by the force Public Relations Officer, Moshood Jimoh, described the allegation as “ un-gubernatorial, un-executive, malicious” and capable of misleading and causing disaffection between the police and the good people of Rivers State, whom Wike had sworn to lead. He, therefore, advised the governor to resist personal grudges, grouse and sentiments to attack his hard-earned personality. He further advised Wike not to cast aspersion on the statutory role of the force of ensuring utmost protection of lives and property of all Nigerians. The IGP, while noting that a total of 221, police personnel are currently attached to Wike, for his personal and office protection, gave the breakdown to include one ADC,  one CSO, one unit commander, Special Protection Unit (SPO), one Unit Commander (counter terrorism unit) and Escort Commander.

Obasanjo hits Nigerian churches, pastors

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has accused some church leaders in the country of not only encouraging corruption but also celebrating people with questionable sources of wealth.
He said this in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday at the 2017 Convention Lecture of Victory Life Bible Church International, while speaking on the theme, ‘The role of the church in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.’
He stated that the fight against corruption must start within the church.
The former president called for a spiritual approach in tackling corruption, tasking the church to rescue the nation from its grip.
He said, “The church needs to clear its Augean stables. The temple of God must be the cleanest to restore the holiness of the church. Our present-day money changers and merchants must be chased out of the church. The pulpit must be used to teach and preach righteous and honest living. To preach that one can acquire wealth without labour is not only deceitful, but also a call to corruption.

2018 census to cost N272bn – NPC

The proposed 2018 national population census will cost an estimated N272bn, the Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Ghaji Bello, has said.
Bello told a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria in New York that the Federal Government was expected to fund the exercise by only 51 per cent while the international donor community would fund the remaining 49 per cent.
“The submission we have made to the Federal Government is in the region of N272bn. But the good thing is that that the N272bn is not for one single year.
“It is spread along a four-year tenure. There’s pre-census activities, that is the preparation; the actual census proper itself and the post-census enumeration activities.
“So maybe you are looking at an average of maybe N40bn in the first year, another N100bn during the actual census itself and then the balance during the last year.
“But the beauty again is that not all the resources are normally provided by the government of the federation.
“The international community does come in and supporters like EU, USAID ; from the previous record that we have, the ratio is 51 to 49 per cent.
“The 51 per cent is provided by the Federal Government while the 49 per cent is provided by the international donor community.

How FG is terrorising Igbo people – Ohanaeze Ndigbo

The President-General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nnia Nwodo, has alleged that the Federal Government was creating situations to
terrorise people of the South East region.
Nwodo made the call while reacting to the continuous detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking with Vanguard, the President General of the Pan Igbo-political organisation wondered why the Federal Government is
refusing to obey court orders to release Kanu while no member of Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram is been made to face trial for their activities.
He said, “On Federal Government’s refusal to release the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu This is a country operated by the rule of law. The whole essence of the rule of law is separation of powers and independence of the judiciary. When the executive does not respect the rulings of the judiciary, we are in a state of anarchy.
“The courts have, two times, asked for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. I don’t know why he is still being held. I don’t understand the security threat that Nnamdi Kanu poses that he will continue to be incarcerated.
“I know that Boko Haram is an armed organisation, which has invaded Nigeria with reckless abandon; occupied territories, some of which have been recovered; mounted flags that are not Nigerian flags; and displaced local and traditional authorities.
