Nigeria foreign reserve drops in the last one week

Nigeria’s foreign reserve has depreciated by $544million in the last one week.

According to Daily Independent, figures posted on the website of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN shows the nation’s foreign reserves stood at $35,740,495,640 as at December 11, but fell to $35,196,352,296 as at last week, December 18. This fall in foreign reserves is coming despite the devaluation of Nigeria's Naira.

According to the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, a large sum form the foreign reserves is being spent in defending the Naira from falling following its devaluation.

According to the governor,

“The CBN took the decision that it would be sub-optimal to continue to use up the country’s reserves in defending the Naira. This decision was right because neither the Central Bank nor the Federal Government is in control of the major factors causing the depreciation of the nation’s currency.

In fact, the Russian Central Bank has abandoned its defence of the currency and allowed its depreciation, but only after it was said to have spent over $90 billion in defending the currency.”.

Marco later told police he killed Kondek because he did not want to return to prison. He has now been jailed on first-degree murder charges.

Another lady claims Bill cosby raped her

McKee, an actress and former Vegas showgirl,  joins more than 20 other women who have accused  Cosby of rape..
She said she partied regularly with Davis’ notorious Rat Pack in the late 1960s and had known Cosby for eight years when the alleged assault took place in the early 70's.

According to the Nypost, now 67, she said
“Back then, I was Sammy’s road wife. He had an open marriage, and we were lovers. That’s how it went,He was a buddy. He knew I was Sammy’s girl,” She said Cosby asked her to get some ribs and then pick him up at his hotel.

“I remember I walked in the door, and he had a robe and cap on. He took the ribs from my hands and just grabbed me,”He spun me around, pulled my panties down, and just took it. We were still standing at the door when he attacked me,”

“It was so fast and so shocking and so unbelievable,”To me, there was a different personality involved. He was a different man. It felt like a different person performing that act.” McKee said she quickly fled to the bathroom to compose herself. Cosby got dressed, and the two shared an icy silence in the elevator down to the lobby, where someone was waiting to escort them to the boat party.

“I never said a word. I was too uncomfortable about it,”“Bill was so rude and cold toward me the rest of the night. I thought, ‘When this boat docks, I'm out of here.’ I just left.” McKee said she never uttered a peep to Davis about what allegedly happened. “I didn’t want to put that in Sammy’s head,”

“I was mad at my own self for not saying, ‘What the f---?’ Why didn’t I stop it and get him away from me? But it happened too fast. I was absolutely flabbergasted,”And I had the guilt. I questioned myself, ‘Why did I go there? Why did I bring him those ribs? Maybe he thought that’s what I wanted too?’

”I figured, ‘If I don’t think about it, it won’t bother me.’ Of course, with all these women surfacing now, it flushed it out,”It was a rape, but it seemed so strange to call it that. We think of rape as a stranger who attacks you in a parking lot,”

“I chalked it up to another powerful person in Hollywood who just felt he could take what he wanted from women with her lover back in the day.

Husband sues Lagos based Indian doctor as wife dies after botched caesarean section

When Semako and Oluwasetemi Hunpe got married, their joy knew no bounds because shortly after their wedding Oluwasetemi conceived. Just like every expectant mother, she decided to register for ante-natal care at Prema Sai Hospital which is a private hospital located in Agege. With the doctor in charge being an Indian national, Oluwasetemi believed that she was in good hands.

According to the Nigerian Tribune, Semako said his wife consulted Dr Bharathi Jayaram on February 17, 2014 for antenatal services. He added that when his wife began to notice pre-delivery signs on February 24, 2014, she was given some injections and told to wait till about 5.p.m on February 26, before she was taken to the delivery room.

“When she went into labour, she was ordered to engage in minor exercises to help aid the labour. Before she entered into the labour room I can remember clearly that she was normal like all pregnant women that I had seen; she walked into the labour room by herself.I was invited into the labour room after several hours of intense labour without adequate care and was asked to encourage my wife to push out as she appeared exhausted sequel to prolong hours of labour.

“On getting to the labour room, I found a nurse applying Aboniki (hot balm), pressing the deceased abdomen while asking her to push and after this amateur mechanism did not yield desired result, they cut the deceased three times to bring out the baby and placed it somewhere unattended to.

“First of all, I noticed that the baby was left unattached for a long time while all four nurses were attending to my wife,” Semako further averred that there was no doctor present throughout the delivery, stressing that after laborious delivery one of the nurses went to call  Dr  Jayaram. “During the period of the delivery, I did not at anytime see the doctor; it was after the delivery that one of the nurses went to call the doctor.

“The doctor came in at about 6.15 p.m and told me to leave the labour room. I left the labour room and stood outside the door. As I stood there, I heard a noise as if someone was being flogged inside. This noise continued repeatedly. My fear grew as the nurses began to rush up and down, fidgeting. It was at this point I tried to get one of the nurses to talk to me but she wouldn’t.

“Twenty-five minutes after delivery, I was told by one of the nurses that the baby was all right, I went inside to see my wife only to see her being massaged all over her body with Aboniki balm. It terrified me to see the frequency with which they were shouting my wife’s name.
She used her last bit of energy to say that her legs were hurting.  Thirty-five minutes later, I was told that my wife would need blood because she was still bleeding profusely. I immediately agreed to this. All this while, I had not seen the baby.  I heard the doctor calling someone and asking for blood.

” He alleged that his wife profusely bled to death, due to the unprofessional cuts administered on the deceased by the nurses and the gamble to get the baby out by any means. Surprisingly, Hunpe alleged that Dr Jayaram told him on or about 6.45 p.m on the day to call his pastor, as she did not think that his wife could survive the incident “Shortly after this stinging and ugly news I was informed that my wife was dead.
Subsequently, they called one pastor to pray for the resurrection of my wife which further exposed the incompetence, negligence and ineptitude of the hospital’s system.

“Due to the unprofessional cuttings by incompetent nurses on my wife, the baby suffered serious deep cuts on its back and buttocks. This cuts on different sides of the baby’s body further attest to the mutilation done on his wife,” he said. He further noted that nine months after the operation was carried out, the scars of the wounds are still obvious on the baby’s body.Semako Hunpe has, however, dragged the doctor before a Lagos State High Court, over alleged incompetence and negligence during the process of delivery.

In a suit filed by Barrister Kayode Adaramoye, the claimant (Hunpe) alleged that professional misconduct led to the death of Mrs. Oluwasetemi Hunpe, his wife. However, counsel to Dr Jayaram, John Adanike denied any wrongdoing. In a letter entitled “Demand for N500 million Damages,” signed by Adanike, the hospital denied being negligent or guilty of any professional misconduct.
The hospital denied liability to pay damages of N500 million, adding that the doctor carried out her duties in the best professional manner throughout the time the deceased stayed in the hospital.

“Our client denies being negligent in any manner or being guilty of any professional misconduct. Consequently, our client denies liability to pay damages in the sum of N500 million or any sum at all,” the letter reads. Investigations by Inside Lagos revealed that Dr Bharathi Jayaram has been practising medicine in Lagos for over two decades. Although she was born and brought up in India and studied medicine at the Osmania University, Hyderabad, she chose to practise in Nigeria.

North Korea threatens to bomb White House over 'hacking' accusations

North Korea has threatened more attacks against the U.S. government and other American institutions in the wake of the hack on Sony which cancelled the release of The Interview.

The government - which was outraged by the film showing the assassination of leader Kim Jong Un - also claimed to have 'clear evidence' that the U.S. government engineered the project as a 'propaganda' attack against North Korea.

In a ranting post published by the state news agency KCNA, Korean authorities hit back by saying they will 'blow up' the White House - while  continuing to deny they have anything to do with the cyber attacks on Sony.

A release, translated from Korean, said: 'The DPRK [North Korea] has already launched the toughest counteraction.'Nothing is a more serious miscalculation than guessing that just a single movie production company is the target of this counteraction.' 'Our target is all the citadels of the U.S. imperialists who earned the bitterest grudge of all Koreans.

'The army and people of the DPRK are fully ready to stand in confrontation with the U.S. in all war spaces including cyber warfare space to blow up those citadels.'

Asking me about my relationship with Empress Njama is crap

There is a notion that you are arrogant, are you?

That is old news. As you can see, I’m not.
It’s just like you journalists coming to ask me about my relationship with Empress Njamah. That is crap. I expect more from you journalists.

It’s the season of politics, will you be singing the praises of any politician?

No! I no longer sing praises to men; I sing praises to God. If they want me to perform at an event, I’ll go and do my thing; not to go and sing the praises of a politician. Our politics leaves much to be desired and I’m not planning to vote. Maybe if things change, I’ll change my mind too.

Why did you change your hairstyle?

It was deliberate. The face of music is changing and you must change with the times or you’ll be left behind. I used to carry dreadlocks because I wanted to be known and different. So I made myself look crazy at a point in my life by wearing dreads.
The controversial things I did then were deliberate, so the media would report them, because I was just an unknown artiste from Bayelsa. Now, with my new look, folks say I look different. Well, that is what is called rebranding.
