Banda Aceh, Indonesia bans valentine celebration.



The government in the city of Banda Aceh,, have requested that locals no longer give cards or chocolates to celebrate Valentine's Day according to Breitbart.

The city's mayor, Illiza Saaduddin Djamal, declared that under Islamic law, Valentine's day is considered a forbidden act.He said

An academic's daughter was found hanged in a field close to the home of a boyfriend who had just broken up with her by text in a row over 21st birthday gifts.

Nina Paunova, a fashion student known as the 'Beauty of Beverley',had also cut her wrists at a secluded spot before she died on September 8 last year.

Fast moving train crushes woman to death in Lagos




A middle-aged woman was crushed to death by a train at Shogunle area of Lagos .The unfortunate incident happened on Thursday as she sat across the railway track .
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Ogun-bound train left Oshodi Station at around 4.45 p.m., heading toward Shogunle Station, Lagos.

ADC to former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan stopped at Airport, to face EFCC enquiry



The Aide-de-Camp to former President Goodluck Jonathan Col. Ojogbane Adegbe  was reportedly arrested at the Airport on his way out of the country on Wednesday.
According to PMNews,Ojogbane was reportedly grilled by operatives of EFCC on Thursday. He had earlier been grilled by a military panel over his involvement in the arms purchase scandal.

2 female suicide bombers killed 56 people in Borno state

Governor Rochas Okorocha Recalls 3,000 sacked workers



After a three day strike by the National Labour Union for sacking 3,000 workers in Imo State,, governor Rochas Okorocha has however swallowed his pride and recalled the workers unconditionally.
Labour had shut down Imo state with the commencement of a three-day warning strike over the sack of 3,000 workers and months of unpaid salary arrears among others.

According to the Houston Press,Chudy Nsobundu, 56, and his wife Sandra, 50, were arrested yesterday and charged with forced labor, visa fraud, withholding documents and harboring conspiracy after allegedly enslaving the Nigerian woman and forcing her to work as a nanny to the couple's five adopted children without pay.

Man in trouble for Raping and impregnating his 13-year-old step-daughter




Men of the Ondo state Police command have declared a middle aged man wanted  for allegedly raped and impregnated his 13-year-old step-daughter.The man identified as Femi Orojo, was said to have been married to the mother of the girl for some six years took to his heels immediate the incident was blown to open.

According to the mother of the victim,  Bunmi Joshua, who explained that he husband took to his heel after confessing to the crime.She said she discovered that Odunayo was five months pregnant following her incessant sickness and expressed surprise that her daughter was five months pregnant under her nose.

Goat arrested for eating official's vegetables in India



A goat could face up to seven years in prison after being arrested for nibbling on a judge's plants.

Police registered a case against the goat and its owner for raiding the district magistrate's petunias and cabbages.They were released on bail after spending a night in the cells, but face charges of causing mischief and criminal trespass, offences that carry a two to seven-year prison term and a fine.

Dead Chinese baby came back to life



A Chinese baby boy who was declared dead and spent the night in a morgue showed signs of life just as he was about to be cremated, local TV reported.

Workers at the crematorium in Pan’an in the eastern province of Zhejiang were preparing to cremate the baby on Friday when he suddenly starting moaning, AFP reported.

A university lecturer, Prof. Christian Happi, has claimed that Yoruba people, are immune to Lassa virus that causes Lassa fever. The researcher, who is Dean, College of Postgraduate Studies, Department of Biological Sciences, Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, said research was ongoing on why this is so, adding that few cases of Lassa fever recorded among Yoruba people are “imported.”

Chinese boss cuts off Nigerian worker’s finger



A Chinese worker, identified as Njaga Chang, has cut off one of the right fingers of his Nigerian colleague at the Xin Xin Quarry in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.
According to Southern City News,the 23-year-old Nigerian victim, Nsikak Tommy, was said to have incurred the wrath of the Chinese for failing to quickly turn on the generator at the quarry site.

Chang was said to have initially attacked Tommy with a water hose but later resorted to the use of machete when the victim took to his heels.

Barber stabs mum to death in Lagos-( photo)


A barber, Ibrahim Oluyinde, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his mother to death in the Abule Egba area of the state.
 Oluyinde, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, allegedly killed his mother on Friday claiming that she was responsible for his father’s death which occurred sometime last year,Punch reports.

It was learnt that at about 2pm on Friday, Oluyinde, paid a visit to his mother in her rented apartment on Bunmi Christopher Close. The duo were indoors until an argument erupted.
