She spends her spare time in a similar way to many other ten-year-old girls - playing with Barbie dolls and making loom bands.
But the key difference between Esther Okade and other children her age is that she has been accepted to study for a university maths degree - despite not going to school.
Esther, from Walsall, West Midlands, has enrolled on an Open University course months after she passed her A-levels - and wants to study for a PhD before running her own bank.
The girl, who gained a C grade in her maths GCSE aged six, has joined the course which started this month. Her younger brother Isiah is already studying for his A-levels - also aged six.
The siblings are both home-schooled by their mother Omonefe, who has converted the living room of their semi-detached, three-bedroom house into a makeshift classroom.
Mathematician Mrs Okade, 37, said:
‘Esther is doing so well. She took a test recently and scored 100 per cent.
Applying to the university was an interesting process because of her age. ‘We even had to talk to the vice-chancellor.
After they interviewed her they realised that this has been her idea from the beginning.
From the age of seven Esther has wanted to go to university. ‘But I was afraid it was too soon. She would say, “Mum, when am I starting?”, and go on and on and on. Finally, after three years she told me, “Mum, I think it is about time I started university now”.
’ Mrs Okade added that Esther - who will study for her degree at home - was ‘flying’ and ‘so happy’ when she was accepted by the university, and wants to be a millionaire. She said:
‘For now we want her to enjoy her childhood as well as her maths. By the time she was four I had taught her the alphabet, her numbers, and how to add, subtract, multiply and division.
‘I saw that she loved patterns so developed a way of using that to teach her new things. I thought I would try her with algebra, and she loved it more than anything.
’ Esther stunned her parents last year when she achieved a B grade in her pure maths A-level. She applied to the Open University last August - and after a phone interview, an essay and an exam, she was told in December that she had been accepted onto the course. Her father Paul, 42, a managing director, added:
‘I cannot tell you how happy and proud I am as a father.
The desire of every parent is to see their children exceed them, and take the family name to great heights, and my children have done just that.

23year-old Temitope Ogunleye was a beacon of hope to his aging father, identified simply as Mr. Ogunleye and the principal of EDU High School in Erio community, Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
He was the bright future the family was hoping for until the early hours of last Monday when he was callously shot dead in the presence of his father, mother and younger sister, Yetunde, in their home at Ado Ekiti by suspected armed robbers.
However, before they shot the NDII Accountancy student, the gang of robbers, said to have been about a dozen in number, had attacked homes in the Olorunda Zone 4 area, especially the neighbours of the Ogunleyes, including a 55-year-old retiree and widow, Mrs Titilade Oriire. Oriire, while narrating her ordeal to newsmen, said the robbers had stormed the neighbourhood at about 1:30am, banged on her door and ordered her to open the door or face “the ugly consequences of disobeying them.
” She said the three houses in the compound numbered 3, 4 and 5 seem to have been marked by the robbers. They were shouting as they compelled her to open the door, threatening the widow with death.
“They were hitting the front and back doors with stones. They had broken into two groups. While some of them were making their efforts to break in through the back door, the other group was at the front door.
”She said “the robbers destroyed the front door, shot into the air to emphasise their seriousness and threatened to kill me. But when I raised my voice that I am a widow and that I have nothing, they decided to leave me and turned to the Ogunleye’s house.
” Yetunde Ogunleye, the younger sister of the slain Temitope, recounted her ordeal, saying “they came to the house before 2am and were shooting indiscriminately.” According to her, only four of them were at home when the bandits came.
That included her late brother, mother and father, who was beaten mercilessly and was inflicted with machete wounds. She said:
“We had earlier heard the noise coming from the home of Mrs Oriire, which sent a signal to us that robbers were on rampage.
But minutes later they came to our house, peeped through the windows and threatened that we should open the door or face the dire consequences.
She lamented that they sounded as a group of people with very vile temper and were unabashed in their threats “to kill all of us in the house.”
“They broke the glass on the window in front of the house and illumuinated the living room with their torches.
Shortly after, they started shooting incessantly when we didn’t open the door on time. They had slipped their hands through the broken window.
“It was at this time that I ran inside to tell my father. He then instructed us to shout and we did so.
Temitope was hit in the stomach while the shooting lasted and was in a pool of his blood.
At this point, the robbers had already entered our parlour and were beating my mother.
In fact, when they sighted my father, they beat him and left him for dead before they left the neighbourhood.
” She said Temitope and Mr Ogunleye were later rushed to the hospital by neighbours after the robbers had left.
Mr Ogunleye, they said, is out of coma and is now in a critical condition in an undisclosed hospital in the state capital. “He has not been told of the death of Temitope. We don’t know how to break the news to him because each time he regains consciousness, he keeps asking after him, but we keep telling him that he is in the hospital,”

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Sunday boasted that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), “will never be Nigeria president again.”
The governor also challenged the former Head of State to swear by the Holy Quran that he did not visit the hospital in the United Kingdom last week.
Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said, “I wish they can see spiritually what I am talking about that Buhari, despite the hullabaloo will never be president. I predicted my return as Ekiti State governor and I am saying it again that Buhari will never rule Nigeria again.
“After President Goodluck Jonathan, there will be a young element in his late 50s from the North that will be Nigerian president. I want to liken this revelation to the story of Elijah and Elisha. I am the Elijah while my followers are Elisha.”
He said he never wished Buhari dead.
He added, “I owe it a duty to Nigeria and its people to expose the antics of the APC cabal whose only interest is to seize power to further selfish interests.
“Without doubt, it is obvious that members of this cabal in the APC is trying so hard to deceive Nigerians on Buhari’s health status. That is the reason they have been using photoshop pictures to defend their lies on Buhari’s UK trip.
“First, they used a March 5, 2013 picture, claiming that Buhari was taking a walk in London on Thursday. Later they came up with another poorly cropped picture of Buhari with former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
“The same people who lied in September 2012 that they received a gold card invitation to attend the Democratic National Convention in the United States of America are behind the dressing of Buhari in the garment of lies and I challenge Buhari to swear by the Holy Quran that he did not visit hospital in the United Kingdom last week.”
But, a group in the Ekiti State has described Fayose as a “political stalker” whose actions should be viewed as a threat to the life of Buhari.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Mr. Segun Dipe, the Action Group operating within the APC in Ekiti, asked Fayose to tender an unreserved apology for having the general on his death-wish list.
Dipe said, “Everyone should put Fayose on notice how his words and deeds have been threatening the life of General Buhari.
“The indecorous governor is bent on seeing the APC presidential candidate dead before the March 28 presidential election because his party is sure of losing the election, and he feels he will stew for it.
“That a Fayose could be hounding Buhari with death threat is quite unwarranted and unfortunate. He has sent spies after our presidential candidate and may soon start toying with the idea of snipers, that is, if he has not already.
“That Fayose is fraudulent, corrupt, inept, indecorous and uncouth is not in doubt. That he is unambiguous in his wish for Buhari’s death is not in doubt either. What is worrisome to us is why the twice-lucky governor should be trailing the General even beyond the shores of Nigeria, to ensure that his wish against him comes to pass.”
Dipe hinted that his group was aware that Fayose in his alleged desperation to see Buhari dead had travelled to UK just about the same time that Buhari travelled and had been trailing the movement of the General abroad.
He said, “He wants to hold on to power by all means possible and he knows that an integrity-driven person like Buhari as president would clip his wings.
“Our group is calling on all well-meaning persons in Nigeria and across the globe to call Fayose to order as his actions and words amount to not only wishing Buhari dead but driving the General to his death. God forbid.
“The group also calls on all sons and daughters of Ekiti who are desirous of rejecting the toga of indecorous and gluttony, which Fayose has brought on them, to come out enmasse and vote General Buhari in as president come March 28, as well as the candidates presented by APC for all the other political positions at the polls.
“A vote for APC is a vote against Fayose’s indecorous ways and PDP’s clueless impunity.”

Governor TA Orji was in Winners chapel Umuahia Today. He pulled his stooge Mr Ikpeazu Okezie along with him. He announced to the church that he has not come for campaign but that he is donating #1,000,000 to the church. The church did not invite him, they had no fund raising, so what for? One million Naira can pay the salaries of some of our teachers in Abia, it can pay the entitlement's of our pensioners in Abia, or even our lecturers in Abia Poly.
Just few days ago , millions were spent in buying taxis for some touts in Ikwuano LGA as T A Orji (Ochendo) Youth Empowerment to enable them rig the elections in Ikwuano LGA. All this amounts to a waste of time. Abia citizens are now wiser, they will collect the said money and still Vote for Dr Alex Otti on April 11th. ABIANS VOTE RIGHT

A suicide bomber this afternoon bombed the popular GSM market in Potiskum , Yobe state. Many people were killed. This is the second attack at the market this month.Details later.
President Jonathan said in an interview with this day that he underestimated the strength of terror group Boko Haram when he assumed office as President but now believes that the leader of the sect will be arrested before the elections.
He said bad press & poor Public relations has negatively affected his government as people, including himself and his cabinet members are not up to date with the achievements of his government. Read the interview after the cut...
"I think the thing that has brought this government down with both Nigerians and non-Nigerians, is the issue of Boko Haram.
One thing is that terrorism is all over the world, but they believe that we did not handle it the way we were supposed to handle it.
Probably at the beginning, we and I mean myself and the team, we underrated the capacity of the Boko Haram.
Capacity not in terms of what they have in Nigeria, but their international linkages, we underrated that and thought that we were dealing with some local elements that we could overrun.
Many of the security chiefs had made statements that later on you people took them up on.
That shows they underestimated their capacity. We’ve now realised that the handshake had gone above the elbow and so we have to move fully and that’s why we are running round to get the right military equipments we need.
Somehow we could not get them early enough, and now it has moved too close to the election.
But with what is happening now, in the next two weeks, that is three weeks into the six weeks, God willing, Nigerians will be happy with what the military has done in the North-east. On whether there is anything I would have done differently, yes.
I think one thing about the government is that we have done quite a number of things.
At times many of us in the government don’t even know what we have done. People tell us.
I remember in the beginning of this campaign, if I wanted to visit a state, I will ask those in my office to list out some of our projects in some of these states so that we can tell them what we’ve done.
Sometimes when I go to the states, people from the host governments will give me a longer list than the ones prepared for me in my office.
That means that even some of us in the government don’t even know all of what we have done to impact positively on Nigeria. Probably we did not put attention and resources on media and public relations.
Public relations is a major thing and that is why companies have departments for this. No matter what you do, you must have a team that would manage your image.
Shell doesn’t need anybody to advertise their crude oil, they’ve sold it already, but they still have image makers.
I think we downplayed the issue of image for the government, and of course making our achievements known.
Also probably the issue of corruption, because these are the two areas people tackle us - corruption and security. For security, God willing, that will soon be a thing of the past.
The next thing is the issue of corruption, and I used to tell people: if I don’t want to fight corruption, I wouldn’t have brought in (Ibrahim) Lamorde as chairman of the EFCC.
I came on board as the vice-president of Yar’Adua, (Nuhu) Ribadu, you all know the story, was removed.
Lamorde was Ribadu’s second in command, he was the Director of Operations, and was removed from the EFCC back to the police. Farida was appointed and she was trying her best, because she used to brief me from time to time. We had to drop her because of reports from both within this country and outside. And given that Ribadu was Lamorde were well- trained by the west, they argued that if I bring Lamorde back that EFCC would improve.
If I am someone that don’t want to fight corruption I would not have listened and brought back Lamorde because he once investigated me.
My in-law was detained here in Abuja for weeks. But I sent for him and told him that Nigerians and non-Nigerians believed in him, so we would bring him to help EFCC, because he was the backbone of Ribadu.
So we asked him to come and be the head of the agency. But people often say that my body movement encourages corruption which is not true.
Lamorde told me about their limitations, being in court and the court compromising. I then came up with some innovations again. Though constitutionally, the three arms of government are not supposed to meet; there is no platform for the three to meet, even though the executive and parliament do meet because we are all politicians, but I said look we must, for the image of the country, come together.
I then called for a special meeting with myself, the vice-president, then the head of corruption agencies, EFCC, ICPC and the Senate president and his deputy, then the speaker and his deputy.
Then for the judiciary, all the judges of the federation, the president of the court of appeal, the chief judge of the federal high court and (from) each of the zones, we nominated a state chief judge each. I told them that the executive, legislature and judiciary must work together in the interest of the country to fight corruption.
I called the meeting because of the issue of court delay, and we discussed and everybody showed concern.
But the judiciary operates like a university setting where every lecturer behaves like he is 100 per cent academic freedom .Every judge has some level of autonomy, and if they don’t operate that way there will be issues.
So there is a limit that even the chief judge of the federation can control a judge.
The only thing is that if they misbehave they will be punished under their guide book, but other than that, the judge can decide to ignore any decision. We had several meetings, and it was in one of those meetings that the question came up about the difference between corruption and stealing based on the laws.
We are doing our best to see that corruption is reduced. You can see that in the payroll system, we have eliminated corruption and theft including the agric sector.
One major area that we will go into is the oil sector. So we are going to sanitise all the sectors, but I always believe that fighting corruption is not just about first arresting people and celebrating the arrest on television.
We have to investigate and prosecute before publicity" he said.
Mr Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti state governor has challenged the presidential candidate of APC,Major General Mohammodu Buhari to swear with the Holy Quran if he did not visit hospital for medical attention during his visit to United Kingdom last week.
Obasanjo ought to be an icon, our collective pride that ought to be cherished and preserved but his enemies will not let him be. Hence the APC, populated by his enemies, are determined to ensure he meets a final disgrace. I weep for Obasanjo, I weep because he will never get it right, I weep because since after the great Zik and Pa Awo, we are yet to find a leader. I weep reading Iyabo’s letter to the father.

Confirming the ugly incident to newsmen, the father of the dead baby, Mr. Clement Anthony, who also claimed to be a tenant in the burnt building, said he was yet to get to terms with what led to his baby’s death.
He recalled that he went out with his wife to purchase drugs they wanted to administer on one of his children that was slightly sick.
“Honestly, I cannot say exactly what ignited the fire. My wife and I, went to a nearby medicine store to buy some drugs for our sick child. We returned only to behold the fire disaster”, Anthony recounted with grief.

Continuing, the man said that his wife quickly rushed the baby to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the medical team in the establishment.

First Miracle of this Sunday Morning. A lady, probably around her late 30s/early 40s, was a victim of a ghastly car accident. An incident that saw her vehicle summer salt and busted up in flames right at the abakiliki express road just beside New heaven junction. Judging from the way she dressed, probably she's on her way to church. This lady Made it out of the car un scratched. Seeing the lady, she looked more like a witness than a victim. Now you see, there's no limit to what God can do for you and me. Happy sunday friends of Jesus.
