How to Control your nerves when attending an interview

Nerves can make you forget to do things as simple as listening. This can result in you being thought of as unfriendly or inattentive. Some ideas for combating nerves include:

  • being aware of the interview's structure, and the fact that they often begin with easier questions such as 'tell us about your time at university';
  • exercising before your interview, as this burns off negative energy and creates feelings of wellbeing;
  • pausing before answering a difficult question to give yourself thinking time, or asking for clarification if, at first, you're unsure what the question means;   continue reading>>> http://careerplot.blogspot.com.ng/2016/09/control-your-nerves-when-attending.html

Erisco Foods shuts down, relocates to China

Erisco Foods Limited yesterday announced the closure of its tomato manufacturing plants in Nigeria, citing an unfavourable operating climate, which has escalated operational costs in recent months.

President/CEO of Erisco Foods Limited, Chief Eric Umeofia, who addressed a press conference in Lagos Tuesday, said the company had concluded plans to relocate the manufacturing aspect of the business to China from where finished products would be imported and sold to consumers in Nigeria and other parts of the world.

According to him, the decision to shut down the Nigerian manufacturing plant was taken after the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum given by the management of the company to the Federal Government to compel the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to make available adequat foreign exchange to assist in the imports of raw materials as well as the requisite equipment needed to keep the manufacturing plants running and also profitable. The company had also urged the Federal Government to compel regulatory agencies like NAFDAC, SON and the Federal Ministries of Agriculture, Industry, Trade and Investment to end the importation and dumping of substandard tomato pastes in the country.

“As from today, November 1, 2016, we have commenced the winding down of our tomato manufacturing business in Nigeria and it’s a decision we have taken after the 30-day ultimatum to government expired without our terms being met,” Umeofia said.

Should we be scared of butter?

Is butter, along with other sources of saturated fats, back on the table, as many have recently claimed?
It is. Just not in the quantities the meat, dairy and fast-food industries might have you ingest.
Unless you have a medical condition that dictates otherwise, there’s no reason to cut anything – not butter, ice cream or Porterhouse steak — completely from your diet as long as you mainly eat plant-based foods (vegetables, fruits and whole grains), lean animal protein and fish and don’t go overboard on foods rich in saturated fats that can cause harm in excess.
That’s the conclusion of the best available evidence I’ve reviewed for maximizing the health of body and brain and enjoying a long life.

Factors That Can Destroy Your Blogging Career

1. Slow Websites
The common saying “patience is a
virtue” does not apply online when it comes to surfing the web. I can say it’s quite the opposite. To keep readers on your blog, the speed of your pages is very important.

A slow website will result your loss of conversions from visitors who are currently on your site, this in turn results in loss of potential
readers and fans, some factors which can make your website slow include:
● Unoptimised pages
● Uncompressed https
● Javascript issues
● Website layout (this is very
important because visitors mainly
scan through the contents rather
than read them)
● Too much flash etc.

Beware, low-fat diets can make you infertile

health22

HAVE you often wrestled to zip up your jeans, cursing every bulge and bump in your body, or gazed longingly at all the skimpy tops in the shops wishing you had the figure to carry them off? It is a fact that a lot of women have dreamt of being skinny at some point in their lives, staring at pictures of impossibly slim models, wondering how different their lives could be if only they looked like these models.

Now experts have asked women to look at it another way. That you should try to imagine your life without your children. Or if you haven’t had children yet, without the possibility of ever having them. According to U.S. academic, Rose Frisch of Havard University, that’s the price many young women are paying for their dedication to staying slender. She has been studying the link between body fat and fertility for the last 20 years. She believes that millions of healthy young women are making themselves infertile by sticking to low-fat diets.

Things you should know about cracking your knuckles

If you’re a knuckle-cracker, you know how it goes: Sometimes you just don’t feel right until you pull, bend, or push your fingers until they pop and you’re flooded with satisfaction. On the other hand, if you’re not prone to cracking your knuckles, the urge might seem bizarre or even a little gross..
What causes that popping sound?
For decades, scientists have been trying to figure out what goes on physically to elicit that signature popping noise. A recent study in PLOS ONE has cracked, so to speak, the code behind this weird bodily function, revealing that the sound happens as a result of an air bubble that forms when a joint is pulled apart. The process is technically called “tribonucleation,” or the quick separation of two surfaces followed by a cavity formation, say the researchers in the study.

Eggs

Egg and marmite soldiers
Children’s brains are developing at a significant rate, especially for the first years of their life. Choline is a very important vitamin that plays an integral role in this, as it is vital for the creation of memory cells deep within the brain.  Rich in choline, the yolk of an egg almost meets the daily needs of children up to eight years.  Egg are also high in protein and contain iron, folate and vitamin A – all of which are important for growth, repair and development of cells. So encourage your kids to eat eggs regularly, unless they are allergic.

Things pregnant women should do

For women who are pregnant, it is such a time to be relieved of certain chores in the home and workplace, a time to eat more and adhere to a number of rules, for the sake of their health and that of the foetus in their womb.
This is partly because it has been established that the actions and inactions of a pregnant woman go a long way to impact on the well-being of the foetus she’s carrying. Thus, the need to examine the things a pregnant woman should do.

Clinton, Trump begin final pitch for American votes

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump sprinted from swing state to swing state in a fight for the last few unclaimed votes Wednesday, six days out from an election that has set the world on edge.
Clinton is ahead in most polls, but a last-minute surge by the 70-year-old Trump has delighted US foes, nauseated allies and winded global financial markets.
In less than a week Americans will chose between a populist Republican who shattered political norms and a scandal-tormented Democrat vying to be America’s first female president.
The choice has left many US voters cold and made the outcome difficult to predict.

8 Ways to Keep Your Marriage Alive When You Start Having Children

2016-06-23-11-00-45-545703342

First comes love, then comes marriage. Then come the little bundles of joy which may seem fixed on destroying the romance in your relationship. If your marriage lately seems to include more diapers and bedtime stories than long glances andstolen kisses, it’s time to do something about it.
1. Play hooky
You’ve got kids, a job, maybe even a mortgage; chances are it’s been awhile since you’ve felt impulsive and irresponsible. Take the chance to feel young again and let your wild, romantic side out. Convince your partner to call in sick to work, then ship the kids off to school, daycare or an obliging relative and spend the day blissfully unattached – together. Check out a weekday matinee (they actually exist) or splurge on burgers and fries. You’ll feel like you’re “just dating” again in no time.
2. Steal kisses
Three words your marriage should live by: never stop kissing. Sure, the kids might think it’s gross and maybe you’re not as crazy for a make-out session as you used to be, but the best relationships include kissing, period. That’s because, the body releases oxytocin during a kiss, a hormone that promotes bonding. Wait ’til the kids are in bed or sneak a smooch behind their backs; the key is to simply keep kissing.
3. Make a romantic gesture
If it’s been awhile since you’ve reached for your partner’s hand (after all, when do either of you not have your hands full?), the simple gesture could do a lot to rekindle the romance between you. Other small, simple romantic acts might include surprising your wife with flowers, bringing lunch to your husband’s office or just snuggling in close for a weekend Netflix session. You’ll be surprised at what even the smallest romantic gesture can do for your relationship.
