Tunisian protesters in the southern province of Tataouine yesterday blocked the road leading to the Thuhayba-Wazan border crossing with Libya, demanding authorities allow them to do business with their neighbour.
Eyewitnesses in the city of Thuhayba reported protests starting to escalate on Tuesday, tyres were burnt in front of the municipality’s headquarters, demonstrators then closed off the road leading to the crossing.

Father sets son ablaze after binding his hands, legs



In a shocking incident , a father tied his son and set him ablaze in Kwara state .22-year-old  Sola Akangbe, died in the early hours of Saturday 
The deceased who suffered severe burns was said to be a wheelbarrow pusher,.He was rushed to Ajisafe Hospital, Omu-Aran, where the doctors at the hospital battled to save his life.

According to NAN , the deceased was accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money from some roadside beggars on Friday and was apprehended and handed over to his father.

Monkey denied copyright to her famous selfies




A famous monkey ,Naruto, has been denied the copyright to a series of selfies she took using a camera belonging to nature photographer David Slater. The decision was arrived at by a federal judge on Wednesday.
According to Ars Technica,PETA, as a representative for Naruto ,had brought the case against Slater , seeking monetary damages owed to the monkey for copyright infringement.

The Police at Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, western Nigeria have arrested a 23-year-old suspected fake dancing promoter, Damilola Joseph for allegedly obtaining seven phones from six women to qualify them for a dancing competition at a hotel on Victoria Island.
Police alleged that after the suspect collected the expensive phones from the victims, he sold them off and escaped.
Police said nemesis caught up with the suspect when the victims reported the incident to the DPO in charge of Lion Building division, Lagos Island, CSP Anthonia Tanaruno.

Oshodi market demolition: Affected traders reject alternative


Traders from the demolished Owonifari electronic Market, Oshodi yesterday rejected the Lagos State Government’s plans to relocate them to Oshodi Resettlement Market (former Isopakodowo market), citing structural instability and several spiritual activities associated with the structure as their reason for the rejection.

They added that the available space in the market cannot accommodate them.
Meantime, a fire outbreak occurred at  the site of the demolition earlier in the day, stopping the traders from further salvaging any valuable left in the rubble. However, scavengers had a field day.
The refurbished Isopakowodowo Market, where the affected traders were asked to move to was commissioned by the former governor of the state, Babatunde Fashola, now Minister for Works, Power and Housing. It was commissioned two years ago on January 7, 2014.
When Vanguard visited the market yesterday, none of the market stalls had been opened for business since it was commissioned.

For the first time since the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government swept to power seven months ago, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) late Wednesday arrested a close political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari and chieftain of the ruling party, Gen. Lawal Ja’afaru Isa (rtd), in connection with the misappropriation of funds in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under the past administration.

EFCC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwajiaren, confirmed his arrest by the commission, stating that Isa, who was also the former military governor of Kaduna State from 1993 to 1996 under General Sani Abacha and was a one-time governorship candidate of the defunct Congress for Peoples Change (CPC) in Kano State, was still being interrogated by the anti-graft agency last night.

A major bushfire in western Australia destroyed nearly 100 homes and left three people unaccounted for as it tore through a small rural town south of Perth, emergency officials said on Friday.
"I believe we've had what I would suggest are catastrophic losses within Yarloop," said Wayne Gregson, Western Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner.

How 5 year old boy was dragged into bush and raped



A five-year-old boy, who was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man, Ganiu Amusa, in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, says the suspect dragged him into a bush before raping him.
The matter was said to have been reported to the police when Thompson began to complain about pains in his anus to his mother, identified only as Adenike, who thereafter raised the alarm.

The boy, Thompson (pseudonym), told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that Amusa also warned him not to disclose the incident to his mother when he got home. Thompson, who was still taking drugs, told the publication, that he did not know the suspect before the incident.

Plans by DSS to secretly execute Kanu uncovered-IPOB alleges



The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has alleged that Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, is being tortured in detention by the Department of State Services (DSS), with the eventual target to “secretly execute” him.

The group, which is campaigning for an independent state for the Igbo, also alleged that Kanu was “very ill” and needed urgent medical attention.
“Information getting to us now is that the director of DSS and Buhari are planning to kill some Igbo-Biafrans working for the DSS in other to secretly execute Nnamdi Kanu,” it alleged in a statement published on its website “Biafra Herald,” on Thursday.

A suspected fuel thief on Monday escaped being lynched by an angry mob in Port Harcourt after he threatened to kill a teenager who caught him in the act.
The suspect, who identified himself as Kenneth Eze, had warned the teenager not to raise the alarm or risk being killed.

Ambode converts LASU to residential campus, approves five-year-term for Vice Chancellor of the school

Miss Universe reacts after Miss Colombia said it is difficult for two girls to share one crown

Miss Universe has apologized for the controversy over her crown but not enough to share her reign.

Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, of the Philippines, spoke against Miss Colombia's that they share the crown.In an interview with Good Morning America on Monday,she said
'I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown,'but I have high hopes that this will this give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia.' 'She's OK, I understand how she feels...I know that she is a beautiful young lady. She's very talented and I think she'll have a lot of other opportunities,' Wurtzbach said.
Wurtzbach also says she doesn't blame Harvey for what happened, and would love to see the 'breath of fresh air' back as host of the competition next year.

'Maybe the way it was written, it was a little confusing,' she said. 'I understand. It was his first time to judge a pageant, but it's OK. He's human. People make mistakes.'

'Steve Harvey was very gracious to apologize. I accept his apology and I think it speaks a lot about his character,' she added.

When asked how the crown feels, Wurtzbach said it's 'a little bit heavy, but I'm not complaining! It can stay there for a long time.'


Archbishop Desmond Tutu's lesbian daughter weds longtime lesbian lover

Renowned South African Archbishop, Desmond Tutu's daughter,Canon Mpho Tutu has married her longtime lesbian lover, Professor van Furth,in Netherlands.It is the second marriage for both. The wedding will be celebrated in Cape Town in May 2016.
 “The couple are very grateful to their families and friends for their love and support‚” the family said in a brief statement.
Furth is a professor in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Vrije University in Amsterdam and Tutu is currently the executive director of the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.
Canon Tutu, the youngest daughter of Desmond and Leah Tutu, was married to Joseph Burris. They had two daughters, Nyaniso and Onalenna.She is an ordained Episcopal priest.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu who promotes gay rights ,has said the oppression of gay people around the world is the “new Apartheid.”
“I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place,”
“I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this.“I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid. For me, it is at the same level,” he added.

40-year-old Man who killed his stepmother blames it on Indian helm(photo)

40-year-old Friday Anyim, who killed his father’s wife in Enugu, has blamed the act on hemp, which he smoked regularly.
The incident occurred on December 27 in Umuenem Ezinesi Oduma, a community in the Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State.
It was gathered that the deceased, Bernadette, was one of the three wives of Friday’s father, Mr. Ogbonna Anyim.Friday, a secondary school dropout, is the son of Ogbonna’s first wife, while the deceased, Bernadette, was the second wife.

ISIS Terrorist killed a 15 year-old teenager for being gay

ISIS terrorists  killed a teenage boy for being 'gay' - but the man who raped him was just demoted and sent to the front lines.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested by ISIS militants on charges of homosexuality and he was thrown from the top of a building in central Deir ez-Zor, Syria. A local media activist who witnessed the killing told Syrian news agency ARA .
“The horrific execution took place in front of a large crowd,”
The teen was reportedly captured "in the house of an ISIS leader" on Thursday.
"The boy was accused of being engaged in a homosexual relation with the prominent ISIS officer Abu Zaid al-Jazrawi,"
The Sharia Court in Deir ez-Zor demanded Abu Zaid die for being homosexual, but ISIS commanders intervened and demanded he be sent to fight in Iraq instead.
"Abu Zaid was forced to leave Syria and join the fighting fronts in northwestern Iraq. The decision has been taken by the ISIS leadership," al-Din said.
