Ohaneze carpeted Mbaka mobilises the people of the state to deliver 100 percent of their vote to president Jonathan during the February 14 election

Ahead of the commencement of the presidential campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State on Friday, Governor Sullivan Chime has declared his readiness to mobilise the people of the state to deliver 100 per cent of their votes to President Goodluck Jonathan during the February 14 election.

This is coming as the youth council of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation,  Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Wednesday carpeted the fiery Enugu Catholic priest,  Rev. Father, Ejike Mbaka, over his recent advice to Nigerians to reject President Jonathan in the coming election over alleged non-performance.

The National President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council,  Chief Okechukwu Isiguzoro, urged Nigerians especially Ndigbo to ignore the vituperations of the catholic priest as he was not speaking for either the Catholic church or Ndigbo.

But, addressing journalists on President Jonathan’s campaign visit to Enugu State, Chime who doubles as the coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Committee in the state, said the state would be fully mobilised for the president, noting that as a PDP state, the president should not loose sleep over the antics of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor who spoke through the Deputy Coordinator, Chief Charles Egumgbe and Secretary, Rita Mbah, said apart from commencement  the presidential campaign,  the president would also use the opportunity to formally present the party’s flag to the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the state, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

He said the rally which would take place at the main bowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, would be the “mother of all rallies,” noting that it would be similar to the rally organised by the Enugu Movement for the Re-Election of President Jonathan (EMJ) last year, which has been variously described as the best in recent times.

“We are going to witness a carnival on Friday to show the strength of Enugu for the president.

The president has done well and we are going to demonstrate that on Friday and on February 14 when the voting will take place, “ he said, adding that prominent leaders of the party including the president himself, his deputy, National Chairman of the party, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), DG of the campaign committee among others are expected in the state.

On their part, the Ohanaeze Youth Council said the comments by Rev Father Mbaka against the president were not only vexatious but inciting, and advised him to steer clear of politics and face his spiritual calling.

“Mbaka as a man of God, should have steered out of politics and concentrated on winning souls for God. He does not understand the issues he dabbled into and he appears to be under the prodding of fifth columnists. His followers expected him to give them spiritual food but he is now giving them a spiritual poison.

“Does he posses the facts and figures he was dishing out. Why should he blow hot and cold. The first lady visited him and showered earthly blessings on him and he voluptuously extolled the Jonathan’s regime only to turn back to incite the polity against him. What kind of contradiction is that? Any way he spoke for himself and not Ndigbo or the christiandom. We call on the Catholic High Command to look into this grossly political statement from Father Mbaka to find out his real motive,” Isiguzoro noted.

APC will win in 28 states- Ngige

Senator Chris Ngige, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, eastern Nigeria, has predicted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win 28 states on first ballot in February general election.
Ngige told newsmen in Awka on Thursday that his prediction was based on facts and surveys conducted by independent surveyors.
Ngige, who is the Coordinator of Gen. Muhammed Buhari Presidential Campaign in the South-East, said that following the prediction, APC would form the next government at the centre.

“Our party will win in 28 states in the first ballot; we have done everything humanly possible to educate our people to follow this change.

“We have done very well in making the people believe in APC despite the vilification by the PDP,” he said.
He explained that the APC presidential candidate campaign in the South-East would start in the zone on Jan. 10 and would end with a rally in Owerri on Jan. 12.

“Our campaign is issue-based as we are championing for change that will affect the lives of the people of the country; we will address the issue of security, welfare and the economy,” he said.
He, however, said that the Igbos were pushing themselves into marginalisation as “they were not playing good politics.”

According to him, Igbo play bad politics by putting all their eggs in one basket and that is why they lost in APC.
“Unless there is a decisive decision by the Igbo merchants and oil traders to participate in Nigerian politics, the people will continue to be marginalized,” he said.
Ngige, who is re-contesting the February 14 senatorial election for the Anambra Central Senatorial District, said that he had achieved a lot to merit another tenure.
He promised to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the area if re-elected.

Trader murder Austra-based lover because of money

A Nigerian spare parts trader based in Benin City, Festus Aimufua, has been detained by Edo state police command for allegedly murdering his middle-aged Austrian-based lover, Rose Aifuwa, who returned home for the Christmas and New Year holiday.

The late Rose allegedly met her death on Christmas eve in the hands of the suspect when she went to demand for the redemption of debt running into millions of naira from the sale of goods she imported for him.

The suspect who resided at Upper Mission road by Aduwawa, in Ikpoba Okha local government area of the state, was said to have murdered the deceased at her residence located on Lucky Way in Benin, during a heated argument.

It was gathered that Rose Aifuwa’s body was later found at the busy Upper Mission junction with several deep cuts and bruises.

Nemesis was said to have caught up with the suspect after he reported the incident to the Ikpoba Hill Police Division, claiming to have killed the deceased by accident. He was promptly apprehended by men of the division.

A resident of the area who alleged that she woke up on Christmas day to find the corpse of the woman, told journalists on condition of anonymity that the deceased was dragged on the floor of a tarred road for about 400 metres, tied to the back of a bus.

“I didn’t open my shop on that day because it was Christmas day. But when I came out that morning, I saw people shouting. So, I quickly rushed to the spot where I saw a dead woman with deeps cuts everywhere.

“The woman looked like someone who was not living in Nigeria. I thought she was a victim of ritualists but I heard people saying that she was killed by her boyfriend who tied her to his bus and dragged her from her house in Lucky Way to the junction.

“I really felt bad because she had a hole in her back and her intestines came out because of how she was dragged and I could not even looked at the face of her brother who came to buy something this morning (Saturday) because he was very angry”, he said.

Another resident who also did not want his name in print, described the murder of the deceased as barbaric, faulted claims by the suspect that the deceased fell from a moving bus.

“I think the police should not believe that because there were cuts in her body as if she was butchered. It is evil for someone to kill another who came back home to celebrate the Christmas with her family,” he said.

Spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, DSP Joseph Edoigiawerie, who confirmed the incident on telephone, said the case has been reported by a relation of the deceased and would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

“A case of murder was reported by one Elvis Omokhojie, that his sister, named Rose Aifuwa, was found lying down on Upper Mission extension junction, Aduwawa in Benin City, and the cause of death unknown.

“We have been to the scene of incident and taken the corpse to the mortuary.

“Our investigation led to the arrest of the man friend or lover because according to the report, he (the suspect) was last seen with her,” he said.

22 year old Nigerian Student Mathew Ajibade died in police custody in US and his family wants to know more about what led to his death

22yr old Nigerian college student Matthew Ajibade, (pictured) died in police custody and his family wants to know more about what led to his jail death. CNN reports...

Matthew died in an isolation cell, after he "became combative during the booking process," according to a release from the Chatham County Sheriff's Office in Savannah, Georgia.
During the altercation, officials say, three deputies were injured, including a female sergeant who suffered a concussion and broken nose. That doesn't square with family members' description of the 22-year-old, whom they described as a much-loved "geeky kid.

"The Nigeria native was in Savannah studying computer science. Ajibade's family has hired Mark O'Mara, a CNN legal analyst who once represented George Zimmerman in the death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin. The attorney hopes to see "discourse of all available information as soon as possible," he told CNN on Tuesday.

Ajibade was diagnosed with bipolar disorder three years ago and was having a medical emergency at the time of his arrest and confinement, O'Mara said. Savannah police arrested Ajibade on January 1 after receiving a call about a domestic disturbance.

When police arrived, they witnessed Ajibade holding a woman under a blanket, according to an incident report. Police uncovered the two and noticed that the woman's "face was bruised, and her nose was bleeding," the report says. Officers ordered Ajibade to release the woman, but he did not comply, the report says, adding that when police tried to arrest Ajibade he proceeded to "resist apprehension in a violent manner.

" He was accused of domestic violence act, battery and obstruction of an officer. "The sergeant is still on medical leave. The other two remain on duty status," said Chief Deputy Roy Harris. A woman who he identified as his girlfriend tried to inform police of his mental health issues, O'Mara said.

"She also gave police a bottle of his medication," the attorney told CNN. The police report notes that officers received a prescription bottle from the alleged victim, but the name of the prescription has been redacted.

Once at the jail, officials say, Ajibade had to be restrained, during which he injured the three officers. He was then moved to an isolation cell due to his "dangerous behavior," a police news release says.
Deputies conducted welfare checks on Ajibade and on their second check he was found nonresponsive, police say.
First aid was administered by the jail's medical unit staff. Despite CPR and attempts to restart his heart with a defibrillator, Ajibade could not be revived, according to the release. It's unclear how much of the event, if any, was captured on the jail's surveillance system, or whether officers conducted a mental health evaluation before Ajibade's death.

County officials declined CNN requests for an interview, citing the ongoing investigation. The sheriff's office has requested that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation conduct an independent investigation.

A GBI spokesperson said an autopsy had been conducted, but that a cause of death was pending toxicology reports. The Chatham County District Attorney's office said a criminal investigation is ongoing and the office will "handle the matter further, should it become necessary."

PDP call MEND a violent group because they are endorsing Buhari

Find the PDP statement below..
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has noted today’s press release by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) reiterating their endorsement of General Muhammadu Buhari.

We invite well-meaning and patriotic Nigerians to note the endorsement and support for General Buhari by all kinds of violent groups. The peace and unity of our great country remain paramount in the policies and programmes of our great party. Finally, we stand by the statement of our leader and President of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan on this matter.

Signed: Olisa Metuh

National Publicity Secretary

Full text of the MEND press statement released earlier today...
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) views the recent question and statement credited to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, as very callous and irresponsible. This question: “Explain your connections with MEND”, further confirms and vindicates our views about Goodluck Jonathan, his inept government and the PDP.

MEND strongly denies any links with the All Progressive Congress (APC) and has never been approached for anything, at any point in time, by the party, as pettily alleged by Olisa Metuh.
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) stands strongly by our endorsement and full support of General Muhammadu Buhari as the man to lead the country out of its present calamitous state in the hands of Goodluck Jonathan.
MEND finds it laughable the recent statement by Mr Eric Omare, the Publicity Secretary of a mere tribal assembly and political praise singers, known as the Ijaw Youth Council, stating that “MEND is a ghost”.

We clearly understand their frustrations at our stance as it obviously came as a shock to them. Nigerians should ask this man (Eric Omare), if he was referring to “ghosts” when he lauded MEND for declaring a temporary ceasefire six (6) months ago as can be seen in the following links:http://thewillnigeria.com/news/iyc-hails-mend-ceasefire-urges-boko-haram-to-lay-down-arms/  http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/26006-ijaw-group-hails-mend-ceasefire(http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/06/iyc-lauds-mend-ceasefire-n-delta/)

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) once more, urges Nigerians to ignore the empty threats of this so-called “ex-agitators” and the Ijaw Youth Council. Their reckless utterances only ridicule and confirm the colossal failure of the “Amnesty Programme”.

We advise the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) to use their idle time in telling and showing Nigerians and Niger Deltans what the government of Goodluck Jonathan has done or achieved in Nigeria and the region in the last six years in office, apart from giving them handouts called “Monthly Stipends”.

“If you once forfeit the confidence of your fellow citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem. It is true that you may fool all of the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all of the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time” – Abraham Lincoln.

Jonathan should not be blamed for the problems of Nigeria- Oba Akiolu

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Railwan Akinolu, on Thursday said that President Goodluck Jonathan should not be blamed for the problems of Nigeria. Akiolu said this while receiving Jonathan at his palace in Lagos.

He said that many of the problems in the country predated the Jonathan administration.
NAN reports that the President was in Lagos State for the flag-off of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) presidential campaign at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
He was in the Oba’s palace to pay homage to him and seek his blessings before going to the campaign venue.
Akiolu said that fighting corruption was the responsibility of every Nigerian. “What will be, will be; God Almighty will give the best person the opportunity to lead this country.
“Mr President, God knows the best; I am happy; what I want are free and fair elections.
“I am happy that Mr President directed INEC to ensure that voters’ cards are distributed to every eligible member of the electorate,” he said.

He urged INEC to ensure distribution of voters’ cards, saying that Lagos had more than six million eligible voters.
The royal father urged that security agents should not be unfairly used against any citizen during the general elections.
According to him, both the PDP governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje, and his APC counterpart, Akinwunmi Ambode, are his children.
He said that he had presented Ambode’s candidature for God’s blessing at the 2014 Hajj in Saudi Arabia but noted that God would always have the final say.

The Oba expressed confidence that Nigeria would be more united after the elections.
Akiolu accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of not treating Lagos well during his administration and leaving many problems unsolved in the country.
Earlier, Jonathan said that he came to the palace to pay homage to the royal father and sought his prayers and support for his ambition.
The president said that the Nigerian government under the PDP had done much for the country, contrary to claims by the opposition.
He said that his administration did not believe in blowing its trumpet but determined to meet the expectations of the citizenry.
Jonathan said that his administration had revived rail transport system, improved road network, created jobs and implemented policies aimed at economic advancement, among other achievements.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, sought the support of the royal father for both the state and presidential candidates of the party.

Pregnant 'policewoman' Arrested for Stealing

In a scene that played out like a badly scripted Nollywood movie, a dismissed pregnant female 'police officer', Funmilayo Balogun, has been arrested for stealing a Honda Crosstour car worth N5m from a car dealer in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and later sold it for N3.5m, having collected the sum of N2m from the unsuspecting buyer.

The 35-year-old 'policewoman' who was paraded by the Ogun State Police Command at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Magbon, Abeokuta, according to the state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, was dismissed as a corporal in 2010 from the Ondo State Police Command over fake result but that since her dismissal, has been impersonating as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), deceiving Nigerians and committing various atrocities till the long arms of the law caught up with her.

The Police Commissioner explained that Balogun came to Abeokuta about two months ago and stole a car dealer and sold it. Since then, she has been on the run until her arrest recently in Lagos while the stolen car was recovered in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Narrating the scenario to newsmen, Okoye said:

"This woman specialised in stealing vehicles. She is specialised in deceiving people, going to car dealers to deceive them that she wants to buy a car. She will bargain with them, after which she will now tell them that they should follow her to the bank to cash money.

From there, she will discharge the dealer and take away the vehicle. I don’t know how she came about the police uniform and that is what she has been using to defraud people. In this particular case, she came into Abeokuta, she negotiated with a car dealer and then pretended to be coming to the state police headquarters, Eleweran. They believed her and gave her two boys to follow her.

She came into the headquarters, drove round, deceived them and went out, came back and dropped one of the boys and asked the other one to follow her to the bank to collect the money.

While their master was inside the office waiting for them, he could not see them and he had to call them; they said that they were still waiting for the woman. Their boss now sent another boy to the so-called bank. The boy went there and was at the bank waiting for this woman.

Then, the dealer called the woman again and asked about her whereabouts. She said she was in the bank. While they were waiting, the next time he called, the woman said she was still processing the money.

After that, she switched off her phones and headed for Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, from where she escaped with the car. When the dealers reported the matter, we investigated and the investigation landed us in Port Harcourt where we recovered that vehicle after arresting the woman in Lagos."

The suspect confessed that she actually stole the car but that it was her first time since she was dismissed.

She said she regretted her action and appealed to the government to pardon her because of her children. Balogun, who stated that she already had twins, advised authorities of the police to desist from dismissing erring officers. She noted that frequent dismissal of officers could escalate crime rate in the country.

Buhari will create 720,000 jobs- Osibajo

The Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), says Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will create 20,000 jobs in each state of the federation.Osinbajo said this at the Osogbo City Stadium on Wednesday while addressing a crowd at the end of a 10-kilometre walk tagged “Walk for Change Nigeria.”He lamented the massive youth unemployment in the country, saying the APC government would address this immediately if Buhari was voted in as the President in February.

He said, “We will provide 20,000 jobs in each of the states of Nigeria when we are elected.
“We will revive our agricultural sector by providing a ready-made market for farmers and encourage them, as the government will be purchasing their farm produce.

“Our government will also engage in feeding of our primary school pupils with free lunch across the country, just as we will embark on massive road construction.
“The elderly and the physically challenged would also not be left out as our government would be giving them allowances.”
Osinbajo said the party had a strong belief that its presidential candidate would be voted into power.

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, while addressing the crowd challenged President Goodluck Jonathan to come out for a debate to defend himself on how he had run the country.
He said that Jonathan had not done anything to deserve a re-election.

Aregbesola stated that the President had fallen out of favour even among the cleric while drawing the attention of the people to the advice of Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka, asking Jonathan to resign.
Aregbesola urged Nigerians to troop out and effect change through their votes in the February 14 election.
He said Buhari had resolved to turn around the fortunes of Nigeria for the better.

Imam rapes 22-year old girl, shaves and collecting her nails under the pretext of preparing a favour charm for her

An Imam, Rabiu Abdulquadri, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for shaving the pubic hair of a 22-year-old-girl and collecting her nails under the pretext of preparing a favour charm for her.

The Imam was also accused of raping the victim, Elizabeth (pseudonym), in his house in Abule-Ojo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State Punch Metro learnt that Abduquadri, popularly known as Alfa Cisse, approached the victim, who was returning from her place of work around 8.30pm on December 28.
The Imam was said to have stopped the victim at a roundabout in the Ofada area of the state, claiming he had a vision about her.He was said to have ordered her to join an on-going prayer in his mosque before he could reveal the vision. Elizabeth, who claimed she succumbed to Alfa Cisse’s bidding unconsciously, said he took her to his apartment after she dropped her luggage at home.

In the night, the cleric allegedly instructed her to strip herself naked and shaved strands of hair in her head, armpit and private parts, after which he had a carnal knowledge of her.It was also learnt that he told her to come back for a charm that would bring favour to her the following day.

When our correspondent visited the victim on Wednesday, she said,  “He and some clerics prayed for me. In the night, he woke me up, collected my nails, hairs and slept with me not minding my menstrual discharge. He said he would use them to prepare a charm for me to get favour.

“I did not realise what I was doing untill the next day when I returned home and my sister scolded me for not sleeping at home. That was when it occurred to me that I had been used.He even demanded more hairs when I got there the following day. Since then, I have been feeling weak and I can’t sleep in the night.

” Elizabeth’s uncle, Mr. Oluwaseun Idowu, said he had spent a lot of money on the victim, whose health reportedly aggravated after the encounter with the cleric. Idowu said he eventually located the Imam’s house after which policemen from the Owode Police Division arrested him.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Alfa Cisse confessed to the police that he actually took the girl’s pubic hairs, although he denied having sex with her.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident. He said, “The suspect was paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, today (Wednesday). “He will be charged to court soon.”

We were offered N300,000 to kill London returnee-Suspected assassins(photo)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected assassins for allegedly agreeing to kill a London-based Nigerian. It was learnt that the suspects agreed to carry out the deed after they were promised N300,000 by their client.

Punch Metro learnt that the four suspects; Salami Afeez, Dare Akinyemi, Fatai Olunje and Taiwo Akinyemi; were apprehended in the Mushin area of the state on December 11, 2014, by operatives of the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Our correspondent learnt that a police detective had gone undercover as a prospective client to be able to locate the hideout of the suspects. The police revealed that the suspected assassins were hired to kill a Nigerian, who resided in London and was planning to visit home.

The police added that the cop, who contacted the gang, wanted to be sure that the gang had guns, and therefore asked them to produce their weapons, which the gang allegedly did.
Our correspondent learnt that the detective, however, led the police to arrest the gang members in their hideout before they could carry out the operation.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, 23-year-old Afeez said their client promised to pay the gang N300,000 for the assassination. He, however, denied that they had always been assassins, adding that they were only enticed by the money. He said, “The client had not told us who the victim was. What he initially told us was that there was an election operation which we would carry out for a politician. He asked me to get more people to handle it. So, I got the other gang members.

“We planned everything with the client, who we simply refer to as chairman, at a beer parlour on Awawu Street, Mushin. Later on, when we were arrested, we got to know that one of those people we were dealing with was actually a detective.

“It was not that I worked as an assassin. I stay on Mustapha Street, Mushin, with my family where I work as generator repairer. I am also a cult member. I was initiated into the Aiye cult last year October. It was the money that enticed us. The chairman promised to give us N300,000 for the job.

” Also, Akinyemi, 31, said he was a drug trafficker before he was introduced to the gang. He added that he, however, had yet to partake in any operation with the members. He said, “I stay in Mushin. I deal in drugs. It was Taiwo who said he had a group which wanted to carry out a lucrative operation, and I should be a part of it. I told them that I don’t indulge in armed robbery, but they promised me a huge part of the money.

“On the day we were arrested, we were about collecting the N300,000 payment. Taiwo and I went to a hotel lounge in Mushin, and that was where the police arrested us. I have never killed before. This is my first time. We intended to spend the money for Christmas.

” PUNCH Metro learnt that the third suspect, 43-year-old Olunje from Ilorin, Kwara Sate, was the one who supplied the guns to the gang. It was gathered that Olunje, who worked as a local security man, bought the guns in 2006 without a licence. Kareem, 37, who also hailed from Kwara, said he was deceived into going on the operation, because their client, who only named himself as Chairman, made them believe he was a well-to-do politician.
Our correspondent learnt that the police had recovered three rifles and a locally-made gun from the suspects.

The Police spokesperson, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, adding that investigations were ongoing. He said, “The suspects have confessed to the crime. Investigation continues on the matter.”

Horrific moment: murdered police officer pleaded for his life before being gunned down on paris street yesterday

This is the disturbing moment that a murdered police officer pleaded for his life before being shot dead by masked gunmen who launched a deadly terrorist attack on an anti-Islamist newspaper in France.

A video from the scene of yesterday's massacre shows officer Ahmed Merabet - believed to be a Muslim - lying wounded on the pavement and begging for mercy before being shot at point-blank range by the terrorists.

Mail online reports that, As they approach, the 42-year-old is seen raising his hand in appeal for mercy, before asking: ‘Do you want to kill me?’ The gunman then answers: ‘OK chief’ before shooting him through the head with the assault rifle. Among the victims, the Al Qaeda assassins – identified as two brothers and an 18-year-old accomplice, all with Algerian links – shot dead two policemen.

The massacre was condemned around the world as an assault on freedom of speech. The magazine, which mocks politicians and religions alike, was firebombed in 2011 after carrying a caricature of the Prophet Mohammed.

This woman is 61years and stays young by dating toy boys

Laila Gledhill could easily pass for a woman in her forties - and the lady from Yorkshire claims to have dated over thirty strapping young men in her life..

She has been married to a 22-year-old army officer, engaged to a 27-year-old for four years and has a casual ongoing fling with a university student. And 61-year-old Laila Gledhill, isn't even a little bit ashamed about her passion for toyboys. Not one bit.Laila from Hull, Yorkshire says:
"No man over 40 has ever approached me.She tells UK Mirror.. "Dating toyboys has kept me looking young and given me a zest for life.

"I feel like my appearance has stood still in time because of the way younger men treat me."From my experience, younger men treat older women with respect, find them infinitely more attractive and genuinely enjoy their company."And the sex is so much better.

"Older men often have baggage and a bigger belly. Why should I be with a sixty-year-old man when I can be one who is twenty-four?  Laila, who turns 62 next year, says:
"A group of twenty-something women became jealous of me when their boyfriends remarked that I was attractive. The girls made some nasty comments regarding my body, saying that it must be wrinkly under my clothes. So to show them, I took some racy photos of me in my swimwear and posted them to Facebook!"  Laila wasn't always a cougar.

Her adult life started largely conventionally when she married her childhood sweetheart, Marcus, when she was twenty-seven-years old.

"We met when I was seventeen and we married each other a decade later."Although even Marcus was two years younger than me - I like to consider him my first toyboy," But after fourteen years together, Marcus declared that he was leaving Laila for a younger woman.

"He was my first love. We had known each other since we were teenagers. But now Marcus was telling me he wanted to leave me for a woman in her early thirties who was thinner, taller and prettier than me.I kicked him out.Marcus walking out on me made me really think about what I deserved in life and from men.  And a few weeks later, the now 41-year-old divorcee met a handsome 21-year-old army officer called David..Laila adds:
"It was so funny because a few months after walking out, Marcus called and begged me to take him back.I responded with 'Sorry Marcus but I've met someone who's younger than you and fitter than you'.

"  David fell head-over-heels in love with Laila and popped the question after a year of dating. When David was posted to Germany, they moved together. The pair were happily married for five years but David's parents disliked the fact that Laila was much older than him. She explains, "His family were unhappy about the age gap between David and me. That finally came between us and we split up.

"   Laila is dating a few younger men at the moment. She says,  "Older women have everything they need in life. They have great jobs and great friends. We don't have to settle anymore. We can pick and choose the men that we want to date. In my mother's generation for example, it was a different situation. My mother had to rely on my father for everything and she didn't have the freedom in middle-age that I have now.If a woman wants to date toyboys, they should. There's no problem with it.Can you imagine how different I would look now if I was with an older man?

Asuquo Etim, the 42-year-old man who took a 12-year-old daughter of Bakassi refugee, Mary Okon, as a collateral for a N600,000 loan, has said the girl works for him to feed his (creditor’s) family.

The Punch had on December 30, 2014, exclusively reported that Mary’s father, Okon, secured the loan from Etim in installments in 2013, with a view to saving the life of his first daughter, Blessing, who was diagnosed with blood cancer. Blessing, however, died in September 2013, despite efforts made to sustain her life.

But speaking with our correspondent at his residence on Orok Effiom Street, off Atimbo Road, Calabar, Cross River State, on Tuesday, Etim, who described himself as a contractor working for the Calabar Urban Development Agency, absolved himself of child labour accusation.
He argued that since he had not been able to secure government contracts like he used to, he and his wife, Patience, had resorted to engaging Mary in street trading. Etim said,  “I gave him (Okon) my money and even my wife, who pitied their condition gave out part of her business capital to him. And because they didn’t have any property, they used Mary as collateral for the loan.

“But as you can see, I am also facing financial problems now and that is why my family relocated from the three-bedroom flat we used to stay on Nyahasang Street to this one-room apartment where we now reside.

“We don’t have money to fend for ourselves anymore and that is why Mary has to sell small-small things like bottled water, garri and palm oil to feed the family. I don’t have any plan for her to go to school because I don’t have money.

” Etim explained that he thought that Okon, who accompanied our correspondent on a visit to his residence, had come to pay off the debt. He insisted that Mary would not be released to her father until the N600,000 loan was repaid. He added, “I thought he came to pay off his debt. I would have been happy and willing to release the girl. She (Mary) will not reunite with her parents unless her father repays the loan.

” Meanwhile, Mary, who was preparing to hit the streets to hawk palm oil during the visit to Etim’s residence on Tuesday, said she would be very happy to return to her family who reside at the Bakassi refugee camp inside St. Mark Primary School, Akwa Ikot Eyo Edem, in the Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State. She said, “When I go out to sell palm oil, I will not return until 7pm. I really want to reunite with my family again and see if I can still go to school. I will love to become a lawyer when I grow up.”

I don't hate the North-Jonathan tells Northern Leaders

Pres. Jonathan has refuted claims that he hates the people of Northern Nigeria. He set the record straight while hosting some Northern leaders at the state house in Abuja, yesterday January 7th.

“Some people say Jonathan hates the north; I have heard that statement and I tell Namadi Sambo; `they say I hate the north but you are here as my Vice-President’. I tell the National Security Adviser and my Principal Secretary the same thing. In fact my Principal Secretary (Hassan Tukur) has been my friend since I was the deputy governor of Bayelsa.
I never knew I was going to come here as Vice-President not to talk of President. But I have known him since I was the deputy governor of Bayelsa. My Chief Detail, Yusuf, is from Borno and has been with me since I was a deputy governor in Yenagoa. I see him as a good person and I have carried him along with me. So I had to ask how can somebody wake up and say I hate the north?” he said.

President Jonathan says he loves Northern Nigeria so much that out of the 12 Federal Universities his administration has established, 9 are within the Northern region. He says he has established more Almajiri schools in the north because he gets saddened by the percentage of school dropouts in the North.

"I feel we must enter the north with aggression through education. Whenever the statistics of school dropouts in the country is released, I’m not happy. The percentage from states in the north is sometimes as high as 50 (per cent) and even more. The last one was up to 70 per cent.
I said no, we must change this statistics. Somebody who hates the people cannot talk about educating their children because the people we are educating are the future leaders of this country,” he said

While speaking to Northern elders, GEJ expressed his sadness over recent comments made by some Nigerians who are referred to as elder statesmen, According to him, elder statesmen who make provocative comments are just mere politicians "Some people call themselves statesmen but they are not statesmen; they are just ordinary politicians.

Being a statesman is not because you have occupied a big office before but the question is what are you bringing to bear? Are you building this country or are you a part of people who tell lies to destroy this country and to create enmity between people who ordinarily would have been living together? At the appropriate time Nigerians will know all of us even though I know most of you know us but the younger ones do not know. Some people are hiding under some clogs, some big names and creating a lot of problems in this country,” he said.

Meet brothers who killed 12 people including two police officers in paris massacre yesterday

Brothers Cherif Kouachi (left), 32, & Said Kouachi (right), 34, both from Paris, have been identified as the men who stormed into the office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo yesterday and killed 12 people, including two police officers.

A third suspect, 18 year old Hamyd Mourad, who didn't fire any shorts, surrendered to police late last night after seeing his name circulating on social media.
The two brothers, who are said to have been trained in Yemen as assassins, are still at large. One of the suspects, Cherif Kouachi & 6 others were arrested and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for terrorism in Paris in May 2008.

All seven men were accused of sending about a dozen young Frenchmen to join Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, after funneling them through radical religious establishments in Syria and Egypt. French authorities believed Kouachi had been planning to go to Syria for training in 2005.

I will ensure steady power supply if elected- Gen. Buhari

APC Presidential candidate Gen. Buhari, has delivered the usual Nigerian promise to ensure stable power supply for all and also expand Nigeria’s economy if the people elect him as the next president.

According to Punch, Buhari said this at the Govt Sec. School in Calabar, Cross River State, while addressing a mammoth crowd yesterday Wednesday Jan. 7th. Concerning power supply, he said;

'The power sector would be stabilised in order to resuscitate dying industries in the country.

“If you go down memory lane during the period of regional governments, the leaders then used to allocate 43 per cent of the budget to education and that is why their names will never be forgotten. We will try to secure our country; we will ensure industries are resuscitated. Our industries are dying and will continue to die unless we get the issue of power supply correct. We will resuscitate our industries.” he said
