Cultist kidnapped by members of his gang in Lagos
A cultist has been kidnapped by members of his gang after he left them.
Godwin Victor, aka Sangba, was the former leader of their group before his was kidnapped in the Akoka area of Lagos State. The gang members were said to have been displeased with his decision to quit the group and embrace normal life.
Sangba reportedly left the group due to constant harassment by the police and for safety concerns.
Our correspondents were told that the 30-year-old Akwa Ibom indigene had recently returned to the community from Port Harcourt, when he was abducted on Friday. His wife, Eniola, said her husband had returned from Port Harcourt where he relocated to due to threats to his life.
She said, “My husband is very popular in this community. Because of that, whenever there was a fight involving his friends and people’s property were destroyed, the police would arrest him.
“He became unhappy with the bad name they were giving him, and he called them and said he wanted to quit street fighting.
“He met other cult groups and appealed to them to embrace peace and lay down their weapons.”
She said the groups agreed to a truce in December last year.PUNCH Metro was told that a few months after the truce, sanity returned to the area. But some of Sangba’s friends, who were opposed to the development, attacked him.
Eniola said one of her husband’s friends shot him at a party in April, adding that he narrowly escaped.
“From that time, he stopped coming to the house and started lodging in a hotel nearby.
“When the stress became too much for him, he decided to relocate to Port Harcourt. While he was away, there was another bloody clash in Bajulaiye and Ebute; two people were killed. When he heard, he was disturbed and told his friends to stop the fighting. He wondered what they were fighting for.”
Tge victim later returned to Lagos on Wednesday, June 3, to look after his family and perfect plans to travel outside the country.
“When he arrived, he called one of those boys, who he trusted, and told him that he only came to get his travelling documents,” Eniola added.
It was learnt that the victim went to a club on Friday, when the gang attacked and abducted him.
Another friend, who was with him, Toheeb Akinpelumi, was said to have been injured before he escaped.
Sangba’s mother, Eme, said the family reported the matter at the Bariga Police Division.
She lamented that her son had yet to be found, urging the kidnappers to release him.
She said,
“Since they kidnapped him on Friday, his phone numbers have been switched off. I have not been able to eat. He is my source of happiness and joy. I appeal to his friends, Anarchy, Ade and others, to release him. If he offended them, they should forgive him.“Ade and Anarchy lived with me for two years and I fed them“After the disagreement started, they chased my son with guns, saying they would kill him.“At another time, they came to the house and when they did not meet him they broke the television and said they would return.”
A police source told our correspondents that the victim was kidnapped by Anarchy, Rotimi, Lati, Ade and others, who were loyal to late Segun Ogere, aka Shaggy.
Shaggy was killed by suspected cultists while returning from a court, where he was the principal witness, sometime in 2014.

Dont't Harrass Clerk of National Assembly-PDP warns APC
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has slammed APC's leadership for scheduling a meeting at the same time the National Assembly elections was to take place. They are also issuing out a warning to the Presidency and the (APC) against any attempt to intimidate the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa and the National Assembly Service Commission for undertaking their constitutional duties. They say they should instead be commended .
According to a statement by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh
“It is a clear mark of disrespect to the constitution for the President and his party to fix a meeting for him to address their legislators the same time he had directed the Assembly to be inaugurated in line with the constitution. For 16 years that PDP nurtured democracy in this country, there was never a day it attempted to arm-twist or intimidate the bureaucracy of the National Assembly to do its bidding given our recognition and respect for the independence and sanctity of the legislative arm.
“The National Assembly is the citadel of democracy and represents the collective voice of all Nigerians. The PDP, even in opposition will continue to protect its sanctity and will therefore resist any attempt by the APC to undermine its independence and those of other democratic institutions in our country”,
“By the last minute attempt to shift the inauguration time for party interest, the President violates his Presidential oath to defend the constitution and serve the nation without fear or favour and irrespective of party, religion and tribe, as he did not consider the interests of other political parties and the generality of Nigerians”, the party said.
“From March 28, 2015 to June 9th, the APC had about 74 days within which it was expected to put its house in order and present its leaders for the 8th National Assembly, but it could not because of the greed and selfishness of its so-called godfathers who instead chose to fix their party meeting the same time the President scheduled for the inauguration of the National Assembly”.
The party therefore charged the Presidency and APC to apologize to Nigerians for the embarrassment their ineptitude and inexperience has been causing the nation since they came into office.

Holy Madison opens up about having suicidal thought at playboy mansion
Holly Madison who was Hugh Hefner's number 1 girlfriend along with Bridget and Kendra Wilkinson reveals in her new tell-all, 'Down the Rabbit Hole': Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny that she was so miserable when she lived in the mansion that she attempted suicide.
In the book, out June 23, Holly explains that dating the Playboy mogul, "a man who was old enough to be my grandfather," drove her to despair.
Facing homelessness in Los Angeles, the aspiring actress and model turned to Hugh Hefner and the Playboy Mansion for sanctuary, she reveals.
It was 2000 when Madison, now 35, first met Playboy magnate Hefner, now 89, at a mansion party and soon befriended his girlfriends.
Despite having been told that only Tina Jordan, Hefner's then-No. 1 girlfriend, slept with him, Madison soon discovered what actually happened behind the doors of Hefner's bedroom.
Madison recounts how Jordan first ushered her into a bathroom, where all the girlfriends sat with their feet dangling in a black marble bathtub. She was then led into the bedroom and given pink flannel pajamas to wear – along with the rest of the girls.
The girlfriends, Madison says, all hated the bedroom routine "and tried to get it over with as quickly as possible."
Madison was told to "fake" everything.
"When I think about it now, it's almost comical. Every red-blooded American male has no doubt fantasized about what went on in Hugh Hefner's bedroom with his harem of blond bombshells. The answer? Not a whole lot," Madison says.
As one of a slew of girls who would get intimate with Hefner during any given evening, Madison writes, "My turn was over just as quickly as it had started." There was zero intimacy and no kissing.
She recalls lying in the bath at the Playboy mansion in 2002 contemplating drowning herself. "If I just put my head under water and take a deep breath in, it would all be over," she writes. "I wondered, would anyone even miss me?"
"Maybe it was the pot and the alcohol, but drowning myself seemed like the logical way to escape the ridiculous life I was leading."
For anyone who tuned into the reality show.. The Girls Next Door, it seemed like Hugh's seven gals had a lavishly fun life, but according to Holly they were all actually "vacant," and just "going through the motions."
"Everyone thinks that the infamous metal gate was meant to keep people out. But I grew to feel it was meant to lock me in."
Holly said that Hugh, now 89, cultivated a hostile environment in which the women were pitted against each other.
When Holly ultimately decided to leave, she says in her book that Playboy Enterprises tried to bribe her to stay by offering to put her in Hef's will.
"The will stated that $3,000,000 would be bestowed to Holly Madison at the time of his death (provided I still lived in the Mansion). At the time, it was more money than I'd ever know what to do with … But I didn't want it. I actually pitied him for stooping to that level," she said.
Holly is now happily married with a 2-year-old daughter, Rainbow, who she hopes will someday read her book.
"I want her to understand why I made the choices I made," Madison told Us weekly. "And hopefully learn from them and not make stupid mistakes herself."

Marilyn Monroe's Mortician claims she has hairy legs and false breast
The funeral director who prepared Marilyn Monroe's body for burial has broken his silence for the first time, giving unpleasant details about the state of the the world's most beautiful woman after she was found dead aged 36 in 1962.
Allan Abbott and Ron Hast ran one of the most popular funeral services in the 1960s for celebrities from Monroe to Natalie Wood, called Abbott & Hast.
Now Abbott has written a tell-all book about his work for the stars, and in it, claims Marilyn was almost unrecognisable when he saw her body shortly after she had died.
Abbott claimed Marilyn described "purple blotches" covering her face due to the position she died in, while saying her roots and nails needed doing. He wrote...
"When we removed the sheet covering her, it was almost impossible to believe this was the body of Marilyn Monroe. She looked like a very average, aging woman who had not been taking very good care of herself. Obviously, the circumstances surrounding her death had greatly exacerbated her poor appearance and she was unrecognizable.
"When someone dies, gravity causes the blood to settle to the lowest point of the body. This condition is called lividity, and considering that many people die lying on their backs, the discoloration that occurs is seldom visible.
"In Marilyn's case, she died face down, so there were purple blotches on her face, and her neck was very swollen. They had bathed her at the coroner's office, and her hair was frizzy and fairly short."
"You could tell she had not bleached it for some time, because the roots were darker and had grown out about half an inch.
"Her natural hair color was a light brown, not blonde. Her legs hadn't been shaved for at least a week, and her lips were badly chapped. She was also in need of a manicure and pedicure."
They were forced to perform surgery on Marilyn's neck to reduce swelling, and later received clothes to dress her in - noting she "never wore panties".
They also claim to have found false breasts in her belongings, but chose not to use them. Instead the wife of the cemetery's manager stuffed her bra with cotton to make her look more like herself.
The star's make-up artists Sydney Guilaroff and Allan 'Whitey' Snyder later explained the star had begun to use the enhancements as her breasts began to sag in her thirties.
They arrived and made up her face, as well as adding her wig.
Marilyn's ex and close friend Joe DiMaggio kept a vigil at the mortuary, before walking outside and crying, according to Abbott.
The pair remained close after marrying in January 1954, before Marilyn filed for divorce 274 days later.

14 foreigners allegedly Involved in illegal oil bunkering
14 foreign nationals of Russia, Ukraine, Japan and the United Kingdom, have been arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over their alleged involvement in oil bunkering in Nigeria.
They were alleged to have been illegally involved in several thousands metric tons of petroleum products such as automotive gas oil (diesel) and low pour fuel oil, LPFO.
According to the charge, the foreigners were said to have dealt in petroleum products without appropriate licence contrary to Section 19(6) of the Miscellaneous Offence Act.
EFCC’s lawyer told the court that the accused were illegally involved in dealing in 1,738.087 metric tons of petroleum product; 1,500 metric tons of automotive gas oil aboard MT Anukret Emerald’s cargo tank and 3,035 metric tons of low pour fuel oil, LPFO, aboard the same cargo on March 27.
They all plead 'Not Guilty' after the charges were read to them.
Their lawyers asked the court to grant them bail on the ground of self-recognition and on liberal terms but the EFCC’s lawyer objected the request saying that granting bail on self-recognition, was only applicable to citizens of Nigeria who reside in Nigeria.
However, the Judge, Justice Buba, in his ruling, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50 million each, with one surety in like sum, while the surety must be a resident of Lagos. The court also ordered that the accused be remanded in prison, pending compliance with the bail conditions.
However, the accused informed the court that they were ready to issue bonds of N750 million bank guarantee, to avoid delay of surety, a request which was granted by the court subject to the deposit of their passports and all travelling documents with EFCC.
The case has been adjourned to June 17, 18 and 19 for trial.

Tennessee woman found after sending text from attacker's phone
A text message cry out for help potentially saved a Tennessee woman’s life this past weekend in Slidell.
Early Saturday evening (June 6th), Slidell Police were contacted by a woman from Tennessee who stated her sister had been kidnapped, raped, beaten, and was being held against her will at a Slidell hotel.
After speaking with Tennessee authorities, it was determined that 34-year-old, Lee Meadows (of Clarksville, Tennessee), was a suspect in the kidnapping of a woman, and was recently released from jail on domestic abuse related charges.
Slidell Police swarmed the hotel in which the victim was being held captive, and breached the door of the hotel room after Mr. Meadows refused to answer the door. When officers gained access to the room, they found the victim badly beaten and in need of medical attention. Mr. Meadows surrendered without incident and was placed under arrest. The victim was brought to a local hospital to be treated for multiple injuries, including broken bones. Slidell Police investigators then began to debrief the victim about her terrifying ordeal.
The victim told police she was taken against her will from Tennessee, and brought to Louisiana, because Mr. Meadows wanted to get out of the state due to pending criminal charges. Mr. Meadows allegedly had friends in the New Orleans area, which was why he decided to come to Louisiana.
Throughout the ordeal, Mr. Meadows took all of the victim’s belongings, including her cell phone, so she couldn’t contact anyone. After arriving in Slidell, Mr. Meadows checked into a local hotel, then continuously beat, strangled, and raped the victim. The victim, not knowing where she was at, was able to send a text message for help to her sister; indicating she was somewhere outside of New Orleans. Authorities in Tennessee were able to obtain the location in which the text message was sent, which ultimately led Slidell Police to the hotel.
Lee Meadows was booked at the Slidell City Jail and charged with: battery by strangulation, second degree battery, false imprisonment, and forcible rape. Mr. Meadows has since been transferred to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
Slidell Police Chief Randy Smith said,
“Had it not been for the determination of the victim to survive, and the swift actions by Tennessee authorities and the officers at the Slidell Police Department, we could easily be working a homicide right now. Hopefully our criminal justice system will put Mr. Meadows away for a long time to where he won’t be able to hurt anyone ever again.

Man accused Police Assistant Inspector-General Joseph Mbu of Torture, threat to life
Alhaji Suleiman Yerima, a Lagos-based foreign exchange dealer has accused the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Lagos, Joseph Mbu, of directing policemen to torture him over a forex deal that went wrong.
The businessman said Mbu directed policemen from Zone 2 to torture him and one of the ways they tortured him was to dip his face into a bucket of water, a form of torture known as 'water-boarding', used to extract confessions from terrorists.
The man who has petitioned president Buhari said he was detained for 80 days by the police after he and a friend were picked up by the EFCC. He said his friend, a man named Uwem Antia was equally tortured and beaten. He claimed in his petition that Antia is lying critically ill in a Lagos hospital following several beatings and torture by the police which included 'hanging him on a pole like a roasted chicken from 11pm till the early hours of the morning.'
He said, “Over 250 people are in EFCC detention cells; some have stayed for four months, some six months. EFCC did water boarding to me and Antia and it was because a friend reached former IG Suleiman Abba that I was not beaten but my life is in danger, the policemen and EFCC officials are out to kill me.”
Punch reports
Yerima said that his ordeal began on March 3, 2015, when EFCC operatives phoned him that he was needed at their office in respect of a petition written against him and Antia by one Denis Ale and Mrs. Gladys Aginwa, both of Standard Chartered Bank, Lagos.
The FOREX dealer stated that he visited the EFCC office with Antia in company with his lawyers and was shown the petition, in which Ale alleged that he gave him N120m to source for dollars and that he had not fulfilled the bargain.
Yerima said, “I told the operatives that it was not N120m but N627m which they sent to Uwem Antia’s account with Zenith Bank. Antia, who is the Managing Director of Kafisto Oil and Gas Ltd., was the one that brought the customers to me and my duty was to source for dollars.
“When Mr. Antia confirmed the alert of N627m in his account, I gave them $1m in cash. The next day, Antia gave them the balance of $2.250m and both transactions were properly documented. During our interrogation, Antia supported our statements with documentary proof of evidence and clearly stated in his written and oral statements that I had given him the balance of $2.250m, which he delivered to Denis Ale.”
In spite of Antia’s statement and evidence exonerating him from any wrongful act in the transaction, the businessman said one Mr. Adeola, Head of BFF at the EFCC, still ordered that he and Antia should be detained.
Yerima stated that they were denied bail and access to their families and lawyers by the EFCC Director of Operations, IIiyasu Kwarbai, and that when they challenged the treatment, they were rushed to a magistrate court on March 12, where the commission obtained a detention order for 30 days.
He said, “On the evening of March 13 around 8pm, policemen from Zone 2, led by one DSP Dantoro, came to the EFCC detention facility. Antia was released to the officers on the instruction of Kwarbai and he was handcuffed by the officers and his legs chained.
“The officers started beating him mercilessly in the presence of EFCC officials, the policemen later took him away to their torture chamber at Zone 2 and continued the torture under the directive of Mr. Joseph Mbu and supervised by Dantoro.”
But the EFCC denied detaining Yerima and Antia for extended period of time. The commission’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, who said he was not aware of Yerima’s case, noted that the anti-graft agency did not keep suspects in its custody unnecessarily.
When contacted by Punch, Joseph Mbu could not be reached for comment.
