How my parents’ separation affected my life –DJ Jimmy Jatt

Not many people know that legendary Nigerian disc jockey, Jimmy Jatt, is a product of a broken home. Although he has made a name for himself in the Nigerian entertainment sphere, the renowned disc jockey told Saturday Beats that his parents’ separation affected his life.
He said that because he was raised in a broken home, it motivated him to put his home in order so that his children would not go through some of the things he experienced.
“There are things that guide me, I am not from this generation; so family is key to me and I have to keep it together so that my kids can say they grew up in a very stable and intact family. That is very key to me because I did not have that. I come from a broken home and I know what that means. I don’t want that for my kids or anybody. The fact that I am from a broken home has motivated me to ensure that my family is intact because I know how life is for a young person who comes from a broken home. I guide against it by all means. It affected my growing up without a doubt even though I turned out to be a good child. My parents would never tell you there was a time I caused any trouble, I was never a troublesome kid but when you look back, you would know that if your parents were together and the guidance was double without competition, things would have been better. I know that there are certain things which my mother did which I liked but my father reversed such because he did not want my mother to have her way.

Vector Writes Open Letter To The Federal Government-Accuse Them Of Killing The Future Of Nigeria.

Nigerian rapper, Vector took his pen and wrote an open letter to the Federal Government over the hike enforced by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Below is Vector’s open letter.
Dear Federal Government,

You have come a long way with your policies and rule. You have concerned yourself with nothing but the present hence making it look like the constitution has to be remixed and renamed “Your WILL” before your demise. You have ignored the children you saw grow and focused on the ones from your sperm cells and ovulation that you aren’t seeing grow because they have been shipped off to “better grounds” for eductaion. You have put your wives in other rooms BUT that of improtance forgetting (if you married a good woman) they balance you when you go astray.

You have failed to embrace the spirit and letter of the Almighty you worship be it any religion. You have failed the man you see in d mirror because he isnt a beast or metaphysical beign you don’t understand. No, He is the posterboy/girl for greed. You have forgotten how you felt when you were coming up but remember this… you will not forget how you fall. Your money… my bad… our money you take will shame you when you need it the most. The hustling are finding ways to be better but you just want to take from them without giving back. You focus on chasing thieves but never focus on securing the vault they steal from.

Why 72 Nigerians Die Of Cancer Everyday.

I grew up in an environment where everything was at peace with man. It was an environment where nature respected man and man respected nature; an environment where drinking water from swamps, ponds and creeks never caused typhoid fever; a rustic countryside where farm work took the place of regular exercise. In such an environment, we ate organic food, planted with natural compost manure. Malaria was treated with herbs, wounds healed faster; there were limited cases of infections. On no occasion would you hear that any illness was terminal. I could not remember having any member of my community in the so called hospital for days, weeks, months let alone hearing that he/she died. The word cancer never existed, some would argue that it existed, but people did not know; that’s not rue; it never existed. Studies by Organic Consumers Association of the United States have shown that 80% of cancer related diseases are caused by environmental and food carcinogens (what we eat and what we breathe) poisoned food and polluted air!

The Secrets You Don't Know About Being Someone's Guarantor.

Becoming someone’s guarantor should not be taken lightly; it is far riskier than simply giving a character reference, according to http://www.yourmoney.com.
*Try to limit your liability: Many guarantees cover all of a borrower’s obligations to a lender (these are called “All Obligations” guarantees). This means that if you agree to guarantee someone’s car loan, you could be unwittingly guaranteeing their mortgage, other personal loans and credit card debt as well. You can ask that the guarantee agreement limits the amount you guarantee (i.e. “limited guarantee”).

budgit-logo

BudgIT, a data-simplifying civic organisation has said 33, out of the 36 states of the Federation, are unable to fulfill recurrent obligations.
In 2015, BudgIT said only 19 states were in that situation.
Before President Muhammad Buhari’s administration officially declared Nigeria in a recession, few months ago,  17 states were reportedly able to meet up with recurrent needs, but, according to BudgIT’s report, only three states can now meet recurrent obligations.
A report released by the organisation titled ‘State of States’ showed that only Lagos, Rivers and Enugu are the states that can fulfill obligations to its workers.
Akwa Ibom reportedly placed last on the table of ability to meet monthly recurrent expenditure commitments followed by Bayelsa, Oyo and Osun, said BudgIT.

Secrets They Never Disclose To You About Bonds.

Keeping funds in bonds is a profitable way of investing you money. However, before you invest in bonds, it is advisable to consider some of these facts that will guide your decision, according to http://www.finra.org:
Don’t reach for yield. The single biggest mistake bond investors make is reaching for yield after interest rates have declined. Don’t be tempted by higher yields offered by bonds with lower credit qualities, or focus only on gains that resulted during the prior period. Yield is one of many factors an investor should consider when buying a bond. And never forget: With higher yield comes higher risk.
Define your objectives. Is your investment objective to have enough money for your child’s college education? Is your goal to live comfortably in retirement? If so, how comfortably? You probably have multiple goals. Lay them all out and be as precise as you can. Remember: If you don’t know where you are going, you will never arrive.
Assess your risk profile. Different bonds and bond funds, like stocks and stock funds, carry different risk profiles. Always know the risks before you invest. It is a good idea to write them down so they are all in plain sight.

Secrets your bank will Never Reveal To you

Banks often don’t tell customers what they should know. This is why the customers must research to know his or her rights. Here are some secrets you should know, according to www.advicesavings.com:
Know the protection or insurance on your payment card
If you’re using your ATM card for debit transactions, ask your bank what kind of protection it offers if the card is stolen or lost. Thousands of naira could be pulled from your current account and, in many cases, you won’t be nearly as protected as you will be with a stolen credit card.

Naira loses 85% of value in two years – CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria says the naira has lost about 85 per cent of its value in the last two years and there is a need for risks managers in banks to be on top of their job because of the risks facing the banking sector.
The Director, Banking and Payment System, CBN, Mrs. Tokunbo Martins, said this in a presentation at a round-table discussion organised by the Risk Managers Association of Nigeria in Lagos on Friday.
She said the Nigerian economy, including the banking sector, was facing various kinds of risks occasioned by the challenges of high inflation, naira depreciation, oil price crash and decline in manufacturing output.
As a result, the CBN director urged risk managers to rise to the task of maintaining robust risk management practice in the banking sector.

How rich or poor you are may determine your health

A group of researchers have shown that your social status — that is, how rich or poor you are — will also determine how healthy you’re likely to be
The scientists, led by an Assistant Professor of Evolutionary Anthropology and Biology at Duke University, Jenny Tung, warn that the difference in life expectancy between the rich and the poor is estimated to be 14.6 years.
In other words, the richer you are, the more likely you are to live long.
The group of scientists who carried out the research at the Yerkes National Primate Research Centre of Emory University, United States of America, conclude that poverty has the tendency to destroy or alter a person’s immune system.
The immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect the body.

Why Nollywood stars run into poverty – Queen Nwokoye

Queen Nwokoye

Popular Nollywood actress, Queen Nwokoye, has explained why most of her colleagues run into poverty.
She blamed it on false lifestyle and trying to live up to people’s expectations as celebrities.
The ‘Chetanna’ thespian, in a chat with BroadwayAfrica TV, said, “Some people think we get paid 10 million for acting; so a lot of times, actors want to live up to false expectations from their fans and that is how they get into trouble.
“As far as I am concerned, if you are paid in Nigeria and you want a Gucci bag and you convert your Naira to dollars to go and buy it because Kim Kardashian is carrying it, it doesn’t make sense because she earns dollars.
“So for me it is not about being extravagant, everybody loves the good things of life but you have to draw a balance. It is about not truly making that huge amount that actors and actresses make.
“Nahhh, I don’t think it is because they are being extravagant, how many people are to begin with? The truth of the matter is a lot of people are known faces but they are not actually making the type of money people think they make.

Buhari’s daughter’s wedding put on hold over N47m wedding gifts

The wedding ceremony between Zahra, daughter of Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari and the son of Maiduguri billionaire businessman, Mohammed Indimi, which is scheduled for December 4, 2016, has been put on hold indefinitely, sources close to the first family said.
Speaking on the postponed wedding, the sources said the wedding was put on hold following insistence of President Muhammadu Buhari that he was not comfortable with the attention his daughter’s wedding was receiving in the media, particularly with news of customised wedding boxes as gifts to Zahra, costing a whopping N44m.
Sources said introduction ceremony between both families had earlier held at the Aso Villa, Abuja on Friday, November 18, but the wedding programme itself scheduled between Wednesday 30th November and Sunday 4th December, 2016, is supposed to be a low-key celebration as the President desires it to be a simple and an intimate ceremony to be attended by only close family and friends.
