MASSOB commends Igbo senators for visit to Buhari

Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has commended the recent visit to President Muhammadu Buhari by Igbo senators led by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Enyinnaya Abaribe.

At the meeting, issues concerning the political, economical and infrastructural plight of the Ndigbo were on the agenda.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu, MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, praised the senators for also discussing the release of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu and other pro-Biafra agitators in Nigerian prisons, stressing that “the sudden political move of Igbo senators to President Buhari is a  welcome development even though Buhari may not easily hearken to their pleas because of his anti Igbo policies.”

He, however, charged Igbo House of Representative members, traditional, religious and opinion leaders to start initiating positive steps towards addressing the  problems affectin Igbo people.

“Igbo leaders should stop playing to the gallery and stop paying lip service to critical issues affecting Igbo. We will not relent in upholding the vision and mandate of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu ( Eze Igbo Gburugburu).

“We have no intention of witch hunting or threatening any Igbo leader, as our reformed MASSOB is for the services of Ndigbo but Igbo leaders who directly or indirectly promote or uphold or compliment the anti-Igbo policies of President Buhari against will surely face the wrath of our ancestors.”

In the statement which was signed on his behalf by the Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Innocent Igbo, the MASSOB leader noted that Igbo senators suddenly woke up following an ultimatum issued by MASSOB during the recent celebration of 83rd posthumous birthday of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Eze Igbo Gburugburu) at MASSOB headquarters, Okwe on November 4.

“The MASSOB leader had warned that if Igbo political, religious, traditional, and opinion leaders fail to rise up against the oppressions, subjections and anti-Igbo policies of President Buhari against Ndigbo including the detention of Nnamdi Kanu and other pro Biafra activists and effect their release before the end of the year, MASSOB will commence a native internal revolution against Igbo leaders.

“MASSOB views the continued existence of political, traditional, religious and opinion leaders without confronting Igbo challenges or rising up in defence of Igbo interest in Nigeria as a disgrace and insult to our ancestors.”
