THOUSANDS DUMP PDP FOR APC IN GWER WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF BENUE STATE



Over two thousand Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) members today in four council wards namely: Tsambe/ Mbesev, Sengev /Yengev, Merkyen and Nyamshi of Ayemengh Zone in Gwer-West Local Government Area dumped the party for the ruling all progressive congress party.
Prominent among the defectors were the immediate past chairman of Gwer-West local government Hon.Benjamin Dugeri, former house of assembly aspirant under the platform of PDP Hon.Peter Akulega, community leader Hon.James Gbinde, Mr Mathias Iorshase, Hon.Kenneth Usoon, Hon.Jonathan Gyuche among several others.
Speaking at the decamping ceremony at Bonaka, Member representing Gwer West in the Benue State house of assembly, Hon.Damian Cheme said he was at his constituency to witness a bountiful harvest of members in to his party and expressed satisfaction over the decision of the people to join hands with the APC in moving Gwer West local government and Benue state forward.He sued for cooperation and sustained peace to enable the Ortom led Government deliver on its campaign promises.
The Chairman of Gwer West local government Hon.Hyacinth Kwegi expressed happiness over the decision of the people to join the all progressive congress, noting that the defection was long over due since Governor Samuel Ortom was their own, there was no point remaining in the opposition party. Hon.Kwegi assured the decampees of due recognition, stressing that the cases of herdsmen in the area would soon be over.
Former Chairman of Gwer West local government Hon.Samuel Abaji, showered encomium on Governor Samuel, describing him as a worthy son of Minda and charge the people to embrace the policies of the Governor in maintaining peace.Hon.Abaji said with Hon. Titus Zam as the leader of the party in Gwer West local government it was obvious that the party was heading for success in the area,adding that even when the APC was an opposition party Hon.Zam stood firm and fought tirelessly to unite the party.


On his part Hon.Prince Simon Aondona, urged the decampees to work for the progress of the party in ensuring victory for APC in all the forth coming elections in the state.He stressed the need for the people of Gwer west to support their son and in law His excellency Governor Samuel Ortom to succeed, emphasizing that it has become necessary for the people to unite and rally round Hon.Titus Zam who is the APC leader in Gwer-West to ensure that they continue to reap the dividends of democracy in the area.Prince Simon Aondona sued for patience and understanding with the Ortom led Governor, assuring the people that Governor Ortom was not going to fail them.
Also speaking Dr.Fidelis Anweh called on the people to eschew politics of bitterness and imbibe in them the culture of love,assuring them of Governor Ortom's determination to always carry them along.
The leader of the all progressive congress in Gwer-West local government area Hon.Titus Zam, said he was happy to have received the lost sheep back into their folds,he assured the decampees of equal opportunity and treatment in the party.Hon Titus Zam said it has become paramount that the people be part of mainstream politics and sued for continued support to enable the Ortom led government succeed . Hon. Titus Zam, said the government was aware of the challenges of herdsmen in the area and said effort were been made in rescuing the situation.Calling on the people to always report to the appropriate authorities cases of provocation by intruders.
