Heads of state of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are going to meet today regarding Ebola at an amazing summit in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Ebola
High on the agenda is talk over dealings to make sure a quiet transition and replenishment of democratic rule in Burkina Faso, as well as having another look at efforts to contain the outbreak of Ebola in parts of West Africa, according to Haruna Warkani, a spokesman for ECOWAS.

“The two main problem on the schedule are struggle with the outbreak of the Ebola, the control, the efforts so far made, the achievements and the challenges that are still exceptional, and then of course the unfortunate growth in Burkina Faso,” said Warkani.

His remarks came after an ECOWAS passing on comprising Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, Senegalese President Macky Sall and Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, who also heads ECOWAS, come across Wednesday with Burkina Faso’s chosen military leader, Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Zida, and other stakeholders about the need to accelerate a transition process.

Some forecasters say there seems to be a divide between ECOWAS and the African Union about how best to make sure a smooth civilian alteration in Burkina Faso after protesters required longtime leader Blaise Compaore to step down and flee into exile. They compete that while the African Union claimed in an challenge that the military leader Zida hand over power within two weeks to a civilian authority, a team of West African leaders that come across with leaders in Burkina Faso said it could take up to a year before elections could be prearranged.

But Warkani thought the two institutions are working together to resolve the political crisis in the West African country.
